Now, having built both kits and kit wit conversion parts, here's my two cents.
Having talked many times with Chris Etzel when he was doing this kit. he did everything possible to make it as accurate as possible. He spoke with Bob Clidinst every step of the way and check all drawings and "plans" that were around at the time. I still feel, that his Watson Roadster kit was the best he made, not just because of the subject matter.
As for the conversion parts from DrDave....I did a good deal of the pattern work, and Chris cast them for me. He did some clean up work on them, to be honest so they would cast easier. DrDave does a very good job of casting tem...I can't tell his parts from the old ones Chris Etzel. They are sturdy and easy to use.
When you are done with both.....They scale out right and look the same, as you can see. So, if you don't have an Etzel Speed Classic Watson Kit, you can have the next best thing. All you need is an old AMT Watson kit, and DrDave's conversion parts and you can build anyone of the "older" 500 Watson winners...or Watson copies that won the 500.
