I do not think I realize that something this nice could be built from the stock kit. Did you mod it a lot? Seems like it.

Right, this is a modified MPC/AMT kit. I studied other builds and looked a lot at various on-line images of the car. Made these modifications: shortened width of the rear wing, added “scalloped” portion to wing upright support, drilled holes in the wing mount bracket, removed front wing inner plates, moved lower fuel buckeye position, opened top of cowling for roll bar, added side heat shield, fabricated new windscreen. Replaced/added these parts: Engine, rear suspension/drivetain and rollbar from Indycals. Wheels from Classic Racing Resins. Tamiya TS-56, Testors Glosscote, Indycal decals. The only issue I see is there’s something not right with the engine cover as the bottom should be lower, right on top of the turbo……..I should have tried a fix, but didn’t.

Really nice work! I just finished three JR McLarens! He was my hero in the 70s as a young turd. Nice work on that heat shield on the rear cowl! Wish I did that to mine, but couldn't figure how to model it.
