Nice build, Rob! What did you use for the base?

Thanks for the kind words. The base is a 4" x 1/8" oak disk and the Lotus badge is a vinyl sticker that I found on ebay.

Your build reminds me of my own Mk18 FC car! Great work. Patrick

Very cool build. I like the added helmet and base, those were nice additions worth the extra effort. The car itself is nicely done and very clean. The panel removed is a cool perspective, too. Thank you for sharing it. Always great to come on here and see a Lotus build!

Nice! I would have never guessed it was a 1/43rd.
Many years ago, in the 80's I think, I attended a vintage car race in Palm Springs. It was pretty laid back and I entered the track and realized I was on the grid for the next race. I truly had no idea that I had wandered in. I looked down at the tiny car next to me (I think it was an 18 or 21. Some kind of Lotus) I saw the helmet and said to myself "Holy S**t. It's Innes Ireland!!" It was indeed. He looked up at me, I nodded and he nodded back. Then I continued to walk through the grid. The engines all fired up and I was quickly told by an official to get the "heck" out.
Thanks for reminding me of a fond memory. MJ

Innes was an interesting guy. Sort of the prototype for James Hunt. I had originally planned to build one of Moss's Monaco winners, but I read Innes's autobiography, 'All Arms and Elbows', and decided I needed one of Innes's cars in my collection. Thanks for the nice comments and encouragement.
