Hi Everyone,
Seeing Dr. Dave's great work, it seems like a good time for more good news for those of us who love Watson roadsters (and who doesn't.) I talked with Gary Doucette yesterday and he plans to release some parts to modify or update the AMT Watson. Gary will have several body panels, noses and oil tanks to build all of the Watson Indy winners from 1959 to 1964 as well as the Ewing copies. Gary says everything will fit the chassis in the AMT kit. With a few modifications it should also be possible to use the Etzel Offy engine instead of the kit version. As I understand it, we will be able to order the parts for a particular car and Gary will also mix and match parts for custom orders. There will be no decals included, but all of the Indy winners except 1959 are available from Indycals and I have the '59 decals available. I think Gary plans to include the Eddie Sachs Dean Van Lines decals with the update kit for the Ewing-built version. If he decides not to, I will have those available.
In a final bit of extra good news, Gary's modifications will also make it possible to build the Kuzma Watson makeovers, which would be the '63 Agajanian car and the '64 Foyt car with proper hoods, cowls and noses. I'm also trying to talk Gary into producing eventually a tail shell without a headrest (actually a bare fuel cell) so we can build the Kuzma Vita-Fresh car.
With Gary's new options, it should be possible to build every Watson and almost every Watson copy that ever existed. I know Michael has decal sheets for several versions and I'll be happy to do any that he doesn't have.
Don't know when all of these goodies will be available, but Gary says it will be "soon."
Watson lovers, rise!
Gary
