Newman/Haas/Lanigan is hiring Milka!? WTH? I thought Christian Fittipaldi would forever be their worst pick but this is just insane! Even if it is about money - I am totally stunned!

It for sure had better be about something other than driving talent!!!

Maybe it was Columbian April Fools Day yesterday.

Is this Milka thing for real? Are the "End Days" this close? I admit I'm a little gullable sometimes ("Listen Sandy, leave your stocks where they are, they'll come back" and I'm still waiting....), so go easy on me! Sandy

I couldn't agree more about some of the disappointing rides posted by indy car teams. Yes there are a few great drivers in the field, but just think how much more competitive it would be if some of the old and new talent that's out there waisting awary were put into some of these cars. I guess that's the key, it's not about talent, it's about money!

yep, she brings a lot of money. I will say this much. She is far and away the most fan-friendly driver. 7:30 pm she was still outside her garage signing autographs and posing for pictures after the Indy 500. I'm hoping she beats prima-Danica in the points.

Ziggy! I've walked by your place countless times! I've been staying at the corner of 24th and Meyers for years on race weekend. And before that a couple places on McCray.

Wow, what a view. Hey, Macsparty, did you park in Bob Shanklin's yard on McCray? What a greay guy, he made going to Indy all the better.

There was a little old lady named Amanda with her dog Lassie on McRay (house with the high fence all around the yard). We stayed there a few times, mostly for time trials, for some reason. For a lot of years we parked at a guy whose last name was Perry, I can't remember his first name. Yellow house, just a few houses in from Georgetown. He was a Speedway cop, and another cop lived across the street, IIRC. And he had a daughter my sister's age. He eventually sold, and we decided to try something new, and we just moved around the corner a bit. We've probably been there 15 years or more now. As anyone who does this sort of thing will say, it's like a reunion every year.

I will second indycals' Milka comments. My daughter dropped her an e-mail last season and she actually responded to it. Not a typical boiler plate response but an actual nice, personal e-mail. She's very fan friendly, goes out of her way for autographs and photos and is a class act in general. I was kind of tickled by her brief moment of glory at Chicagoland when she was leading the race and Danica was beating her fists.

After missing any/all of St. Pete on TV, I was surprised that I didn't see Milka in the Q results. I went looking for information on SpeedTV.com and found this on there: Dreyer & Reinbold are in the process of trying to bring back Milka Duno to run the 10 ovals while keeping Manning for the remaining six road races. Duno tested with Newman/Haas/Lanigan at Homestead in February and was attempting to put a deal together to run alongside Robert Doornbos and Rahal but, according to his friends, Carl Haas just decided he didn't want to run her -- at any price....... Will be kind of interesting to see where Milka drives this year. You'd think with the $$ she brings, that some team will think it makes financial sense to have her drive their car....!? Jordan

The story I got was that Milka was supposed to bring x amount of money to NHLR and when the time came, she didn't have as much as was agreed. The IRL had Arie Sr. to be her driver coach but the money didn't come through. The car was going to be run from the NHLR restoration shop on Gasoline Alley (the old Pac West shop).

How about this for a "what if" scenario - Milka going in with Sarah Fisher. Food for thought. Milka would bring some much needed cash for Fishers operation and you could possibly have a two car team. (Please don't start laughing). Seriously though, Milka's kind of an underdog and I'd like to see her racing to at least make an attempt at something. Even if it's only ruffling Danica's feathers once in a while.

Reviving Sarah's team would be an excellent use of Milka's sponsor $$s. BTW, I read that in Argentina that gas is $0.12/gal because the government helps pay some of the cost.... but it sounds like Chavez may try to change all of that....

Actually it's Venezula. But a Milka/Sarah alliance would make a certain degree of sense.

Maybe I missed something yesterday, but I didn't see any Milka? Is she only running the ovals? Or is it all a joke?

She tested with NHL and was supposed to get a ride. Now she looks like she is shopping for a new team that needs the Citgo $$$
