The Dallas Morning News reported this morning that Josef Newgarden is leaving ECR. Possible destination? According to the DMN, the best bet is Penske. Newgarden would replace JPM. That's all speculation, of course. Let the Silly Season begin!
Best, Gary

I also heard that it was a done deal. I would like to see him stay with Ed. but you just can't turn down a Penske ride.

Ryan Hunter Reay did. I know it is tough desicion. Wonder who Ed will get to replace him. Ryan Briscoe, J.R. Hildebrand Mikhail Aleshin. I would like to see Marco Go out from his dads wing and try a new team. It will be interesting.

Wow! Talk about conflicted...my favorite driver is now a member of the "ABP"(anybody but Penske) team...have always admired Roger, and loved Mears...just get tired of the same guys winning...I sure can't fault him, and believe his chances of winning the 500 and championships just went waaaaaaay up...my prediction is once he settles in, he will be as good, or better than Simon, Will and Helio...oh; he has also brought my wife back to caring about Indycar (meaning: "did Joseph win? " gets asked now)...she quit caring when Mears retired...So Good Luck Mr. Newgarden! You just made a Penske fan... Tim (the adult at Phoenix who acted like a kid when he got JN's picture)

It is nice to have JPM back in IndyCars and winning races these last three years. Overall 2016 was mostly a bust for him after winning the season opener, but still disappointed to see him leaving Penske. I hope he gets a good seat and comes back with the intensity we saw in 2014 and 2015. Excited to have Josef at Penske and hope they can make the chemistry work to keep him on the sharp side of the field. In 2016, Josef seemed like one of the best Chevy drivers especially when the Hondas had an advantage at a track. Chevy is going to need him at Indy this year with the frozen aerokits, especially if Ganassi bolts to the big H. Over the next few years the face of IndyCar will shift. Lots of talent with big fan bases getting up there in years: Ages as of the 2017 season opener 48 - Buddy Lazier 42 - Tony Kanaan 41 - Juan Montoya, Helio Castroneves 40 - Takuma Sato 38 - Sebastian Bourdais 36 - Scott Dixon, Will Power, Ed Carpenter, and Ryan Hunter-Reay That list represents 9 Indy 500s and like a dozen ChampCar/IndyCar championships. Also, it includes 2 Penske drivers, Ganassi's 2 best drivers, and Andretti's best driver. Makes signing a young and proven talent like Josef all the more valuable. My 2 cents Jordan

It is for sure another changing of the guard, like the era when Mears, Mario, AJ, Gordy, and the rest retired. Fortunately there is lots of young talent out there in the various MRI series. Hopefully there will be rides for them. MJ

JR Hildebrand to drive the ECR #21 Chevy full-time next year. Still a few seats left but not near enough for everyone to get a f/t drive in 2017.

Connor Daly to Foyt, Didn't see that one coming as Connor's step dad is IMS president Dougie Bowles.
The other Foyt car will be occupied by Carlos TacoBell, who had Honda money behind him at one time.
should be more riveting stuff announced as soon as someone comes up with a check
