Let's do this for upcoming races. For hockey games, the forums I go on have a GDT or Game Day Thread. Now those of us can follow the race on this thread and keep others who can't watch up to date on what is happening.
By the way, I missed the explanation of the tire rules. Can someone bring me up to speed on it?

On road and street circuits, the cars may run either or both if you wish. The rule is that one must complete TWO GREEN FLAG laps on reds. Past that, it's just for strategy. The reds are a softer compound.

The live feed stunk (for me at least - with choppy/slow video & no sound) and the TV in my house that gets Versus was.... "unavailable" Congrats to the podium - nice to see RHR and Wilson on the podium, too.

Mediocre race at best but I think that's a product of a street race. Some questionable pass attempts at inopportune times took out a couple of contenders. Good job by Hunter-Reay to get the Vision car on the podium in a last minute deal.

The "red tire" almost seems like Firestones open wheel attempt to"back engineer" the Goodyear Nascar product that ran at the Brickyard 400 last year. I watched the qualifying stuff yesterday and it seemed as though they were having problems with marbles. During the race, they were having major problems with these tires breaking down and creating marbles which was a part of Ed Carpenters wreck. Anyway, these are my own uneducated observations with no insult inferred toward Firestone or Goodyear. (My Disclaimer).

The issue is not the tire but rather the configuration of the circuit. Already narrow, once the marbles start flying, there is virtually no room to go off line to pass or maneuver at a street/temporary circuit. Marbles are present at any circuit, regardless of compounds. At the ovals, most of the marbles are thrown up near the walls off line and usually are not an issue. Road racing is one thing, say Elkhart Lake or Mid-Ohio, but street circuits are a horse of a different color. The narrow nature of the circuit's design probably accounted for well over a million dollars in unncessary damage to the cars.

I never realized the course layout made that much of a difference. Very interesting. Thanks for the info.
