Okay... first of all I screwed up on Sunday. I was at a wedding and forgot to tape the race! Sitting there all I could think of was that I was missing it! I got lucky or so I thought when I found out the race had been rained out. I found out that the race would be shown on NBCSports at noon on Monday so I was pumped! Going to that channel it did not list the race in the guide so I taped several shows in a row back to back so I could watch the race. I get home yesterday and there it is and I watched the first hour no problem. That show timed out so I went to the next recording. This is where things got weird. The next recording was only 8 minutes long before it ended. In those 8 minutes it showed the nasty pit accident (Helio is lucky he still has his head) but that was it. I moved to the next recording and there is Will Power all excited that he won. Then gymnastics? I have Direct TV so I don't know how everyone else faired. Bummed....

Your not alone brother, same thing happened to me! I had it on live however and you did not miss much. I was asleep when the Frenchman with the yellow #22 hit the fence so I don't know if this happened during the snafu or not.
One thing about these broadcasts and I have written to them. When you set up to record them in advance. You know when you are establishing your "que" you do not have the ability to add the extra 30 minutes. None of the IRL races on NBCSN finish on time as the pre-race stuff normally eats into the allotted time.
They can't help themselves. Even small problems are not dealt with.
On related issues, I thought the pit collision could be laid squarely on whomever sent Rossi out of the pit box. Car Right sounds like ALRIGHT to me, and I think it did to Alexander as well. Not to mention the fact that Kimball's pit box was only a couple of stalls away. That was a major screw up as Rossi had a good car in dirty air. I am a race fan and while holding plenty of contempt for this series I do watch or record all of the races. I also enjoy watching someone upset the apple cart and would love to see Rossi establish a foot hold of success in American Open Wheel Racing.
I was a bit disappointed in the winner not acknowledging either Wilson or Clauson as the racing fraternity has had a pretty rough time of it. Would have been really bad if Penske's three time Indy winner fractured his neck, which was a real possibility....
This would also been a case for not having cockpit canopy's. It would have made getting a guy out of a car a nightmare.
your mileage may vary

Exact same thing happened to me Stu. Direct TV had some kind of problem. Michael, you are right that you can just pick one show and add three hours. In my case yesterday I waited to see for sure that race was going to run and then hit record. Even if I had added three hours to the second show, which in twenty twenty hindsight would have been the smart thing to do, I would still have had the same problem. Might be able to get the whole race "on demand", but the last time I tried that I just got rain delay coverage and never did see the few laps they did get in for the Texas race. Maybe they'll replay them this Saturday night.

I think it was a DirectTV issue. The full race should be available on YouTube pretty soon. IndyCar usually uploads the race to YT and other ppl usually have theirs up there before then.
I really thought it was going to be a Honda bloodbath but the Chevys showed pretty good. That whole podium did an awesome job. Glad Helio was okay, that was very scary.

I had somewhat of the same issue. My dvr is set for new only, so it did not start at the beginning, so I missed the Sato crash, it also stopped at the start of the Power interview, it's set to extend 30 mins, but that's not enough. I thought I had changed that, but I guess not. A bad release by Rossi's team, but Herta did tell him more than once that there was a car there. Not to blame Kimbal, but he should have seen what was going on, and backed off a little, it's not like he was a factor. Charlie seems to drive with blinders on.

Must have been an East coast problem...here in Phoenix I set my DVR to record the program at 9am put a 3 hour extension and got all the race. I have Direct TV and have never had an issue recording any race. The race was great too btw.

I think as Michael suggested the saving grace was using the 3 hour extension for the first program. Paul Erlendson

It was a great race. Sorry some had problems viewing it. Aleshin was awesome. With a little more experience he will be tough to deal with. RHR was walkin' ' the dog until that electronic glitch struck. He was the race and, after such a mediocre year, deserved to be heartbroken after a dominating performance. Watching those two guys I'm having a senior moment remembering who won.

Hello all, must of been an East coast thing. I had it on my guide late Sunday night (12:00 P.M. than I recorderd the next two road to Rio episodes and caught the whole race. I live in Indiana and have Directv also. Sorry you missed one hell of a charge from Ryan Hunter Reay. Will Power drove a race like Rick Mears used to do. Keep dialing in the car and be patient.
I am not sure what Rossi's team was even thinking sending him out. I know time is critical but it pays to be a little patient. Than again Kimball could have checked up and slowed to let him go buy and all would have been good. Thank goodness Helio was o.k. I love how when he was approached by the reporter he had his usual smile and was very kind on the interview. He could have been all mad and get out at either Rossi or Kimball. Class act from one of the best. Looking forward to the next two or three techinally.
