Was always one of my sentimental favorites. There is a great book, I believe it's called 1967: The Summer of Living Dangerously that is a wonderful study of Chris Amon during that season with Ferrari. Many, many great photos too.

I'm at the age now that far too many of my heroes are leaving us.
RIP Chris.

This makes me very sad. He was my favorite formula one driver of that area. I even named my son after him. Also if I'm not mistaken, he did all of the driving for James Garner in the movie "Grand Prix".

I was at Hockenheim in April of 1968, for the Formula Two race. Jimmy Clark disappeared from the race about a lap before they brought Amon in. No work was done on the car. They just said something to him. He tore away, spinning his tires, and drove the hell out of the car: truely a car at the limits! A few laps later, the Public Address system told us what he already knew. I'm delighted that he got see the return of Ford to LeMans, but more that his win there, I'll always remember how hard he drove on that horrible day. I'll miss the man. RIP. --Frank

Was just reading a short interview with him in Octane Magazine. Great driver and I'm happy that lived to see the 50th anniversary of that great drive. Thanks for the wonderful.memories Chris.
