Yesterday evening I finished my recreation of the Lotus George Snider raced during the 1966 season, including Indianapolis. He qualified third for the 500, missing the starting line melee which involved his boss A.J. Foyt. However, his race day didn't last much longer, crashing out on lap 22. He raced the Lotus elsewhere that season, finishing sixth in the car at Phoenix. Snider is one of seven drivers to contest 20 or more 500s, starting 22 and qualifying for 23, driving mostly for his friend A.J. Foyt. The one race he didn't qualify for and didn't start occurred in 1981 when Tim Richmond bought Snider's ride and drove the race in place of him after failing to qualify. Snider regretted doing that as the money he received for letting Richmond drive in his place couldn't match being on the track, racing. That's the true mark of a racer in my mind! He was a superb sprint car driver, winning the 1971 USAC Silver Crown Championship and to this day runs a Sprint Car team in California. The kit is Lance Sellers recent Foyt Lotus release, IndyCals released a George Snider set to go along with the Foyt car and I jumped at the chance to do his version. The car's painted Tamiya Pearl White with IndyCals decals. The kit is box stock and went together with no problems at all, Lance does an amazing job engineering his kits and it shows. Here's the final result:

Very nice build. Looks like you decaled all those curves perfectly. Seemed like a quick build. This would have taken me months and months. Thanks for the update on what Ziggy is up to these days.

Great looking Lotus! A real beauty. Lance did a great job on the kit and Michael made some really cool decals. I need to get mine going. I'd be proud of it comes out half as nice as your George Snider version

Great job, where did the seat belts come from? And I'm with Kip, thanks for the Ziggy update.

Was great of Lance to do a Foyt version and this is a really great looking build of it. Plus, since most will probably be built as Foyt's car, you doing Snider's 38 is a cool deviation. Great job, Jerry.

Wow! That really looks like a Lotus 38! You did what I would have done...build someone else's car!

Thank you for the kind words, this was a fun build! Any chance I have to do a project off the beaten path a little I'll always jump at the opportunity to do!
The seatbelt is a decal set from IndyCals and the red really pops against a black seat.
Once again thank you for the kind words and I'm looking forward to other builds of this kit.
