Here is something new, not your regular Bburago I've been working on this for a couple months; everything is either modified or scratch built except the wheels and tires which were tread sanded and painted or lettered. " alt=" "]

Thanks, it was rather fun. Also a special thanks to Michael at IndyCals for the 1/14 Martini one off decals....

Bummer as it was so nice! I use a lacquer clear. I have yet to have any issues with it.

That is a super work detailing it. I guess you almost built an entirely new car under the body. Since you must repaint it you might consider the black JPS markings instead as the body on the Burago Lotus is of the prototype as roll out and was changed. www.picautos.com/images/lotus-79-03.jpgThanks for all the pictures. They will help me on my future Lotus build.

I found this picture of a Bburago Lotus on the net. Compare it with the impressive work that was made on the Martini car.

Thanks for the compliments. I might just try the JPS version this time since as you say (and I agree), the body design is actually of the JPS version and not the martini 79 version. I just recently picked-up one of the Burago Brabahm in 1/14; I am thinking about doing it the same way and changing it into a fan car.... they would look good side by side. Got to get with Patrick for a 1:14 version of the JPS decals... (smile)

I was close to buy a Bburago Lotus from Ebay yesterday but changed my mind when I found out how big they are. I will try to build the prototype in 1/20 scale instead and some of your pictures will be of big help to me. Thanks.

These are very strange scales! Is the whole product line like that? It brings to mind the box scales from way back in the early days. --Frank

Orso, I look forward in your 1:20 build.
Alterrenner, Actually Bburago had F1 cars in 1:14, 1:24, And I believe some limited in 1:48. I chose the 1:14 simply because they were a different scale. If you ever built the older Tamiya 1:12 cars, it is just a bit smaller, but they display real well. The cars from Bburago are extremely basic a devoid of many of the items you need, but that is part of the challenge. The end result is something that nobody else has, and as a display they command attention if done well.
