I know several of you are planning on going. Who all is in? I will probably see at least some of you at the show on Saturday. I am taking my kids for the first time. Yesterday they were looking through some of my books, and the conversations were entertaining. Her: Who is Rick Mears? Me: One of the best that ever was. He won it four times. Her: In a row? Me: No Her: That would have been better. Tough crowd.  |

I will be rolling into town on Thursday morning. We are staying in Crawfordsville this year as they tore the Dollar Inn down. We be at track on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Silver Crown race on Thursday for sure and maybe Friday at IRP. Memorabilia show Saturday morning.

We'll get there Thursday afternoon. We camp in a yard on McCray street about 2 blocks from the track.

Plan was to stay with family friends in Nobelsville. But last I heard, Dad had not talked to the family friend. Thinking we will end up making a mortgage payment to a local hotel. I took Friday off from work in hopes of getting there Friday afternoon but unless I know for sure I have somewhere to stay, I will have to wait until Saturday to arrive  Jordan |

I'd love to get there earlier but it took some arm twisting to get time off work as it's the busiest time of year at Lowe's and they seem to think nobody should be given vacation during that time. Someday though. My concerns are affording and finding accommodations for that many days. We used to park on McCray in Bob Shanklin's yard. Great old guy, I'm sure he's gone now. My plan is to retire in July of next year so maybe that will open some doors of opportunity. I hope you all have fun, it should be a good race. I've hesitated to mention this because of the obvious feelings about the George family, but I'm hoping to meet up on race day with one of my former instructors I had in art school. He's married to Kathy George.

I am coming up on Saturday for the show and, of course, for the race on Sunday. Our son, Chris, and daughter-in-law are flying in from London on Friday night. Karen is a Kiwi and a great Dixon fan. We will be joined by John from Phoenix and Mike from Colorado Springs both of whom worked with me in IRL Timing and Scoring for about 10 years. John and Chris have been going to the Race since their junior year in high school. Next year will be their 30th. I first went to Qualifications in 1946 at the age of 4 and saw my first race in 1953. No wonder I like to build the older cars. What a time! What a day! What a Race! Can't wait!

I will be out there Weds. night with son. Plan to see all the old cars on Thurs. and then Fairgrounds Silver Crown race that night. Friday for Carb Day and Freedom 100 (always a great race despite light entry list. I think they all think Roger and Chip will meet them in Victory Circle with lawyers and contracts in hand). ARM will have two tables at the Memorabilia Show on Saturday with some new items to show. Please stop by and say hello. And then for the 500 on Sunday, I hope, as weather is iffy throughout the weekend. Will be sitting in Southeast Vista, Sec 17 (hope we can meet up there, John),. If you are going over to IRP, keep an eye out for Dakota Dickerson in the FF2000 events. He is a comer and friend of our family.

I'll be in Indy Wed. morning, to unload the 2 Vintage cars we will be running on Thru. and Fri. As of now we will be running the 1975 Sugaripe Eagle and the 1974 Carling Black Label McLaren M-16 and also helping with the Budweiser Turesport and maybe 2 more cars. So we should have a GREAT time Thur. and Fri. Stop by and say Hi.
Lance and Kevin Kuzman will be set-up with me at the Sat. show.

Turn 3 spotting for Pippa. Been maintaining radios for all 4 crews. Also take care of radio helmet kits for all the helmets (6 so far with Clauson and Gabby back up helmets coming this week). Just realized while typing this I need to build up 7 drink tubes in the next 2 days too (Gabby has one already, I had to cut up Conor's when I switched him into his new helmet)

Hey Trevor, say hi to Pippa for my two girls! Seven year old twins going to their first 500, and they are big Pippa fans. They've had the chance to meet her before, and will definitely be cheering for her on Sunday.

I will be at the show, Sat, and the race. This year Sandy will have the "pleasure?" of my company for the race. Tim had it last year, and he won't be back for a while.

I bought tickets on USAC.com for $60 which get me into the night races on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. We are going to the races!
