Hi all, Looking at the Speedway practice photos, I see that Firestone's special 100th tire is pictured with the the Firestone shield in both red and white. Does anyone know why? Are the reds and whites different compounds?

I think I've answered my own question. They must be markings for right and left side tires, right? D'oh!

Good catch, I think you are correct. Looks like white shield tires are lefts and reds are rights. Same on both the inside and outside of the tires.

Great question because it looks like they all have red or are supposed to be red.

Yep, a single tire has the same design facing inside and out. The lefts and rights differ in the color of the shield.
