If we're talking kits then I'd say the best option would have to be Tamiya's BT50. There isn't too much difference in the cars so modifying the kit to a 49 shouldn't be too hard. The biggest obstacle would be the decals. www.gurneyflap.com/brabhambt49.htmlG

Thanks for the references, I guess Tameo does the BT48 and Tamiya does the BT50... bad thing is the BT48 was designed around an Alfa engine and the BT50 around a BMW engine but the BT49 was designed around the Cosworth DFV... hmmm (goes off to research some more...)
I have found a few diecasts of the BT49s and Colin Frasier built BT49s so maybe I can find the SMTS kit somewhere. Would be nice to find it in 1/25 but I don't mind 1/43 as I have a growing collection of 1/43 kits.
If anyone knows of any other options, please let me know - THANKS!

Jordan,
AMD did the BT49 in 1:20. It is a sweet kit. Comes with decals to do the car in any of 5 different versions, PE parts, body in resin, curbside. Unfortunately, they are very rare.

Jodan,
Sorry to say the AMD group is no more. They all disbanded and went their separate ways. You could try try Tom Walsh (Stormville,NY). He runs a hobby store in Stormville and sometimes offers kits on eBay. He had a lot of the AMD kits.
