It's my understanding that Boston wanted a guarantee that it would not be liable for any cost incurred in putting on Boston Grand Prix, so plans for the race have been scrapped! Costs of permits for construction in a flood plane also figured into the decision to cancel. Sad to hear this. Yes, it's expensive to stage a race, but so much money comes into the area when a race is run, and I should think the track layout could have been modified to avoid the flood plane. In the back of mind is a thought: what if the race had been for NASCAR (not necessarily a street race) in the area? --Frank

I don't understand how they could start selling tickets before they had a firm commitment. This thing seemed to hang in the balance from the very beginning. I'm not sure who gets the blame, but once again a race gets canceled and everyone is scrambling to find an alternative.
