I'm having a slight dilemma on choosing the correct color for my build of Ole Calhoun. I've painted the wheels with a mix of Alclad Brass and Polished aluminum and it looks ok but I'm thinking it replicates the color of the wheels on the car currently instead of the race day color which looks lighter with less gold tone.. Any suggestions?

I think I used Alclad Pale Burnt Metal on mine.
I think the wheels were bare magnesium which has a slight gold-ish hue to it, and which most "magnesium" hobby paints miss completely.

I have some Alclad Pale Burnt Metal and looking at it you are right there is a slight goldish hue to it. I could spray right over the brass color I have laid down already it might make the goldish hue a little more prominent... I assume the gold hue on the original wheels is from the Dow 70 coating the magnesium wheels had on them. BTW I really like the resin tires you sell they turned out really nice!

Your Ole Calhoun continues to amaze! For mag wheels I've had pretty good finishes using Testors Acryl Jet Exhaust. Sandy

I give mine a base coat of Magnesium and then a dusting of Tamiya Champagne. Gives just a hint of gold.

I used Tamiya TS-87 Titanium Gold on the Ruby Mongoose...it was pricey but I like the results... Tim

I was only able to use what I had leftover in my cabinet which was Tamiya TS21 gold, Testor dull coat and a little black wash. Probably not the accuracy you're looking for, but was OK for me.

I like to use Alclad Pale Gold for the wheels. It looks a little bit more muted than the pictures you posted.

Ok , So I decided this afternoon I would change to color of the wheels. I decided to use Mike's suggestion and use some Alclad Pale Burnt Metal since I already had some of this available to me. I had a 2nd set of wheels in which I painted Pale Burnt Metal Then I took the set of wheels I had already painted Alclad Brass and lightly painted over them with some thinned Alclad Pale Burnt Metal. This definitively muted too Gold look of the Brass gold but just lets enough of the gold tone to show through. Both sets of wheels side by side...

I decided to go with the wheels that were based coated with Alclad Brass then with the thinned Alclad Pale Burnt Metal . Wheels test mounted on the tires.. I think it looks more realistic than what I had before. Still have to weather the wheels with a light wash to bring some of the details out.. Thanks again for your suggestions everyone! I appreciate it!
