Just got my first Pinto kit the other day. With this model finished I'll have a '58, '59, '60, '62, '64 Cooper team cars. Also, this is the 70th year of Cooper Cars and this is a welcome addition to my F1 collection. Well, I'm pleased and not so pleased with the kit. First the good...The body is a well done molding, clean and crisp. The wheels/tires combo are very good with great tread detail. This isn't a complicated kit with a body, one unit chassis with attached suspension and wheel/tires, seat, and steering wheel. I was pleased with these details. However, I am disappointed in the execution of the suspension. Metal pieces were molded in the chassis piece and the resin was poorly molded around them. The upper rear suspension was not clean and crisp (a poorly molded part) and in fact it was broken (Fernando is happily replacing it). O'all I still love Fernando's kit and especially the wire wheel sets he also offers. Pictures of the WIP will follow.

I'm sure you will overcome any of the kit's deficiencies, and improve those areas. This will be good.

A good body is more than enough for another Patrick masterpiece! Will be looking forward to this next Cooper.

I have to agree with Patrick on the castings. He does great work but the kits do require a lot of cleanup. I think the problem is his molds are so complicated with metal parts molded in it makes it almost impossible to not have a lot of flash. That being said he makes some of the most accurate kits around, and that includes Hiro wich do not research their kits as well as Fernando. I know Fernando has alot of vintage photos and drawing of his models. Hiro I think uses mostly restored cars to get data from.

Tom, You are right on with your assessment of Fernando's kits. I love the body casting!
