Bobby was a good NASCAR driver and made two Indy 500 starts: drove from 22nd to 7th as Clark's Lotus teammate in '65 and drove an old Shrike for J.C. Agajanian from 32nd to 10th in '69.
God speed Bobby!

Chapman, without telling Bobby, changed the gear ratios on the Lotus before the race. BJ was down on revs and could not go faster. He never forgave Chapman.

Bobby was at IMS in 2011 for the 100th anniversary festivities.

Chapman stiffed Andy G and now I hear about Bobby Johns. Did he make any friends during his time at IMS?

I'm pretty sure he didn't go there to make friends $$$$$
As far as "stiffing" Granatelli, I guess that comes down to whom you believe. I don't think Andy was a Saint by any stretch of the imagination. (although I have heard a few good stories about him from the aviation guys I know)
I know of several stories were the car is changed without the driver knowing.
That being said, Bobby Johns did a heck of a job when he came to the Speedway. Another guy whom it would have been cool to sit down and talk with.

Given everything I've read, Bobby was the consummate pro

Sad news. Vintage Racing Magazine did an article on Bobby Johns just a few months ago! Sad news, indeed. --Frank
