WIP on the Marmon Wasp

I just finished getting the paint on the Marmon Wasp just recently released by Michael at Indycals. I painted the car a mixture of Mr. Color 329 yellow and 109 character yellow per the kit instructions.

So far so good on the kit, the detail and instructions are as thorough as anything I've seen on a kit. If you didn't have a chance to get the kit the first go around, get it when he releases it again. If you have it, build it. You'll be amply rewarded.

Cool to see this! There's actually one omission on the instructions, I forgot to include mounting the rear shocks, but that should be pretty self-evident.

Thanks for all the kind words on the kit! To answer your question Indy, I've not actually painted the tires yet, that's just some filler to even out some spots. I'll definitely weather them though.

I've done a little more work, I had a devil of a time getting a gray-green color for the engine I liked and finally found a bottle of Tamiya IJN gray-green that looks pretty darn good. I painted some detail work on the wheels and body as well. It's coming along smoothly so far! Thanks for looking.

I've moved along with the Wasp. I was politely reminded that I had the cylinder heads on backwards! I had a brain cramp when I put them on but I managed to gently get them off, turn them around and put the pipes on correctly. I touched up the paint, attached and painted the engine fittings and installed it in the chassis. I attached the springs and suspension as well.

It looks good so far, it's coming right together!

I just finished printing the instructions and they are as much a labor of love as the kit itself.

I've put the decals on the car and have put the body on the car along with the seat, fire extinguisher and steering column. The decals went on with little trouble, that said I got a second set of decals from Michael to touch up some areas of the striping on the car.

I've almost got the tires ready and should have this car completed shortly. I've thoroughly enjoyed this build.
