Working in retail, December is a very busy time for me, but I've managed to finish four more cars. 30 down, three to go. First is Justin Wilson's car. I decided to paint the body white first, then mask it and spray on the red, rather than using the white decals, which never fit very well. The number decal for the nose was red on the decal sheet, so I had to make the proper blue ones from scratch, using some blue decal from a second sheet. The next is Martin Plowmans's AJ Foyt entry. It was quite the challenge getting the stripes on the decals to line up properly, but I did the best I could. The next is Simon Pagenaud's Lucas Oil entry, which was a pleasure to build, using the excellent Indycals decals, which of course fit perfectly. Hand painting the flat black on the rear bumpers was the most difficult part. Last is the Russian driver, Michael Aleshin's car. I'm unfamiliar with SMP Racing, but I noticed that they sponsored an LMP2 car at Le Mans last year as well. As usual, the decals didn't fit very well, and if you look closely, you'll notice that lots of cutting and pasting of small sections of blue decal was required to get full coverage. No decals were provided for the rear bumpers, so I had to match the red on the deal sheet as best I could. I can't wait to finish the final three cars, because I'm itching to start some 1/43 scale projects, including one or two Ampersand kits, and some ProLine Miniatures Trans Am Roush Mustang kits. I might even do a photo journal of the Ampersand kit, just to show what a pleasure it is to build a well designed kit.

All four are pretty nice. I think my favorite is the Justin Wilson - a great tribute and I always like a nice #19 build :-)
