Hey guys.
I have searched the Internet over looking for some nice looking pavement sprint tires and wheels. Big Donkey seems to have some, but I'm not 100% certain it is the look I am after
what is going on?
I have a slew of the Grant King 1/25th Sprint Cars from back in the mid 70's. These were big in my teen years. I built several, still have them. In the collection I bought I got many brand new still in shrink wrap. "Pole Cat" "Groove Boss" "Outlaw Sprint" and of course the Grant King subject. The worst thing about these kits are the way out of scale tires. Big Donkey has some nice stuff, but mostly dirt, or modified and they are molded in one piece so I cant use the big five lug wheels. I really don't want to buy them and then cut the wheel out!
anybody have a source? Indycals 1964 Indy tires are about as close as I can get right now. There not bad, just a little too skinny.
Thanks in advance.

You might try American Racing Minatures. They show some '50s wheels and tires on their website. Jim

What era are you trying to replicate? Early 50's pavement sprints almost look like Dragmaster pie crust slicks. Are you looking to replicate a specific car or just something generic? I created some by pavement tires by splicing different racing tires together for offset and stagger.

The seams are actually where I spliced them together, once sanded you cannot tell, the right side has been sanded.

Hubie, many of Big Donkey's tires are large enough to use on a sprint car, and to my knowledge (based on the sets I have purchased) they are cast separately from the wheels.
