Fresh off the heels of my Valvoline build I'm getting ready to start work on the Autolite Epperly offered by Gary Doucette. The question I have for you guys is whether this car's color was a pearl white or a plain white?
Thank you in advance for your help!

I have seen the car in it's restored condition. It is plain white. I can not say how it was in 1961.

I agree that it was white. There was an article in Circle Track magazine years ago when the car was first restored and it appeared white then too. It had been found in a woods in Kentucky. It appeared at Indy during Fan Day for several years and was white. I don't think it was pearl. Walt probably knows for sure. Good luck. Jim

I thank everyone greatly for their help and advice, I happened to be talking to Gary Doucette and he states unequivocally that the car was pearl white based upon the photos he has and research he's done on the car. I went with his advice and painted the car Tamiya Pearl White. I've done some decals and the car looks pretty good so far.

Looking good, Jerry. Don't sweat the color. All that matters is your happiness with the build.

Wow! This is neat! Looking good, Jerry. Don't sweat the color. All that matters is your happiness with the build. Now Craig, you know there is a little saying in racing that, "winning isn't everyhting, its the only thing." Well in model building, "Color isn't everyhting, its the only thing!"

My research shows that the front half was pearl while the back half was plain white. Sandy

I've the decals on the car and they look good, I'll clear coat the body before proceeding further with the construction.

If the engine cover isn't "dead-on", you need to tell me what's wrong with it? It, and the whole build, looks great to me! --Frank

Really nice job matching the colors regardless of what any of us say. You also did a nice job with the thin black strip. I always tear those. Glad to see someone get it right. Jim

Looks really nice! Is it an optical illusion, or is the front axle a lot wider than the rear? Are the offsets different on the front wheels?

I've not completed the Epperly and the photos will soon be in the 2015 Build-a-Rama page!
