This is the best paint scheme EVER! The only reason I wanted to build this car was just for the paint job! LOL! This paint job will take a long time to complete. This is one of the craziest ones yet I have done. I needed to get my Tamiya paint used up and this is the perfect car to do it with! While I apply color after color to this body I will continue to work on my other projects.Sit back relax and enjoy the color show. Let your eyes be mesmerized by the all the color!
All my post will be in color on this thread! It's the rule! So don't ask too many questions because it takes too long to type these color comments out! LOL

Impressive post, that must've taken a long time. It would suck to do all that and then have your computer crash before you submitted it.

This might be a "new track record", we can have a debate about 4 colors on the same car.

LOL! Sometimes the most silliest things are the most amusing to humans....this is kinda like popping bubble wrap....its silly and simple but everyone loves to do it!
It's actually not 'that hard' to do.....there is actually a little trick that most do not realize.

What's the painting plan for this one? Building box stock? Any aftermarket parts? Did you talk Michael into replacement decals? Have you considered Icon rain tires? What are you doing to make the wires to the wings? What race are you replicating? Driver?

Boutsen had many 3rd places in 1988, He was the best atmospheric, non turbo car in '88, apart from Ivan Capelli's podiums. I wish F1 had colorful liveries like this today, this is one of the most classic schemes in F1. I had this exact model kit in 1989, I believe I painted the yellow, blue and red with humbrol paints in a tin and a cheap brush. No one in my small town back then sold Tamiya spray paints.
So this build has a lot of nostalgia for me, can't wait to see more

Looks good. Is the tape on the red a hair short or will the blue cover that?

Looks great so far Calvin! Probably the 2nd prettiest car of the time. I really must finish my Gunze curbside in the one true scale.

I just picked up this kit in a slightly built condition for 5 bucks tonight at our IPMS Boise meeting tonight. I'm thinking of doing a hypothetical preseason test version. I've never liked the paint scheme of this version. Loved the B186. Any progress to report Calvin? Paul Erlendson.
