I am thinking of doing one of the Revell Reynards as a De Ferran Penske. I have the Speedline decals and plenty of 99 Revells, but only one 98 Revell (that I can spare).
I think I recall that the 98 Revell is a better kit to use, if so:
1) Which paint should I use for the red? I was thinking Tamiya Flourescent Red TS-36.
2) Should I remove the dorsal fin?
3) I forget if they were Goodyear or Firestone...?
Thanks!

That year they used a Reynard which had the rounded sidepods that were very much like the 98 Reynard. Here is a link that a lot of you might find VERY helpful. Great collection of pictures -> mwphoto.smugmug.com/gallery/3465451_2uC4z#194847952_oL6Ev 1). Yup, Tamiya TS-36 is the Flo red that I would use. It is semi transparent. You need to have a consistant undercoat in the areas you intend to use this paint on. I have used the Testors Flo-red (with a airbrush). It goes on fairly smooth and it is less transparent than the Tamiya. 2) I've looked at a few races (2000 Milwaukee, Cleveland and Detroit) and I have not seen the Penske's with a fin... but these are not high speed ovals, so I can not say for sure that they never use a dorsal. 3) Firestones RussD

Wow, that's a good photo site Russ - thanks a ton!! Good answers too - nothing wrong with them.
Penske ran Reynards in 2000 and 2001 but the CART garage started calling them Renske's because even though Penske Cars in Poole, England wasn't cranking out full chassis like in the past, they were still doing a lot of development work on the Reynard.
Kit Listen to what Russ said. To model either year Renske, I'd recommend starting with the 1998 Reynard - Forsythe, Shell, or Castrol cars are recommended since they have BBS wheels.
#1 Tamiya Flo-Red is a great paint to use - I'm probably going to use it on my upcoming M@r1b0r0/Penske build. That is despite the fact that the LHS carries a different line of flo paints.
#2 I don't recall them running dorsal fins in 2000 - are you modeling a specific race? The 2000 car is easier since those Speedline decals you have does the 2000 car and the 2001 was much more non-standard Reynard fare. Some other quick Penske differences are a different rollbar, sidepod profile, and turbo inlet. But that's only if you want to scratch build some.... your choice.
#3 Firestones on a Penske in the first time in like forever!

I especially like the 1989 Alfa powered March. There is a decal set that appears to be pretty simple and there are plenty of the AMT and Monogram March kits available. Also, a M@r1b0r0 March 88 decal sheet would be great. RussD
