Great job on this model. I just got one myself and I hope mine turns out half as good as yours. I wonder if you could tell me wear you found the seat belts?
Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave, Believe it or not, those are just paper printouts of seatbelts I found here: www.daisey-designs.com/cars.htmlI'm glad you like them, I have actually been thinking about replacing them with seatbelts from stradasports!

Nice looking build, one of the better looking cars. Great job. How did you find the casting of the body?

Nice looking build, one of the better looking cars. Great job. How did you find the casting of the body? The kit is made by Bill Jorgensen. As far as I know he only sells his stuff on ebay. That is where I found mine. He makes a lot of different cars and they are nicely detailed. His ebay user profile is: myworld.ebay.com/toonces2jay/ . The decals are from www.IndyCals.net. When I bought my kit, Bill included the decals with the sale. Hope this helps, Dave

All I can say is AWESOME. I have one coming from Bill as well. My favorite driver and my favorite car. Hope mine looks half as good.

What were the color codes and type of paint you used for that awesome paint job?

RT - I used Testors gloss red and gloss white lacquer with an airbrush. It was the first time I had used lacquer in an airbrush, and now I don't think I will ever go back to enamels! I also use just regular 'ol automotive wax (Turtle) to polish the paint before putting on decals, then I cover the whole thing with Future.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to have to look at your car real close because I have to figure out the paint lines, where the red and white go on the car before the decals.

RT - What I do sometimes (and I must have done it on this kit...) is make a photocopy of the decals and then cut them out and use them as paper templates to guide masking.

where can I find the brass pins for rear axles?

where can I find the brass pins for rear axles? I use 1/8" copper tubing available at most hobby shops... when working with resin cars it;s always good to have a supply of copper and aluminum tubing and some steel wire.

You said you applied automotive wax after painting, before applying the decals. How long should you wait after painting to apply the wax?
Thanks, John groundeffect06

Did you have to use a donor kit for anything, or was everything there?
Thanks! Mongo

I don't remember how long I waited to wax. Given the way I build, it was probably weeks! I'd guess a day would probably be safe though.
I don't think I used any donor parts, IIRC Bill included everything needed on this one, except the fiddly scratch bits like tubing for axles, styrene for the wing sides, etc.
