My first thought is that you should get a hold of your Bank's Loan Officer and see what line of credit you have, then start looking at vintage Indycar events. The classified ads in Vintage Motorsport Magazine would also be a good place to start. Anyone else have an idea? (I know you mean a scale model Lola, but everyone else is thinking the same thing, and I'm the jerk who put it into print) Happy hunting... --Frank

Okay, Lola experts: What are the differences between the T8300 and T8400? I was asked and I do not know.

Jordan Well, I won't say that I am a Lola expert, but I do know that there are no such things as a Lola T8300 or a Lola T8400. The 1983 Lola was the T700, the 1984 car was the T800, and the 1985 one was the T900. I guess that when they ran out of hundreds they changed over to the later system, as from 1986 the car was the T8600, and that system was kept up until they stopped manufacturing Indy cars. There are quite big differences between the T700 and the T800. The first was designed by Lola founder Eric Broadley and was largely uncompetitive until Tony Cicale was brought in to revise some of the aerodynamics, which made the car better by seasons' end. For 1984 Broadley hired Nigel Bennett, and he came up with an efficient design that was a winner for both Mario Andretti and Danny Sullivan. The T900 was a further development of the T800 and was based around the same monocoque design and netted Mario the Champ Car title. I am currently working on a pattern for a 1/43rd scale model of the T800. The T900 was in the original Ampersand range, and I still have plenty of those, if anyone's interested! Bo

A big difference is that the 83 Lola had removable cockpit bodywork covering the monocoque. All Lolas from 1984 onward were solid monocoque - i.e., the tub was the body work.

@ ampersand = For my information could you plan T700 in 1/43 in future ??
@ Indycals = Mike, are you planning 1984 "Budweiser" and/or 1985 "Beatrice" Lola decals ?
I have Ampersand 1/43 Andretti T900 1985 unbuilt but decals from my kit are yellowed

I have no plans of doing the T700, I'm afraid. I am doing the T800 as it had many parts in common with the T900 which I have done aleady and which I have good stocks of. As for the decals, yes they yellow with time. Try leaving them out in the sun for a day or so, that usually helps. I usually tape the decals to the inside of a window facing the sun. Bo
