My build of the Ebbro Tyrrell progresses. While a nice kit, my opinion of the Ebbro kit is not the best. A bit finicky, it doesn't build as well as a Tamiya kit. Some of this, however, I'm sure is self inflicted. I chose to do this car, using Michaels excellent decals: First up was to ruin the beautiful included tires. The Lucky Strike car ran different tires. So I had to remove the logos and add the correct ones: Fixed (I know the blue line shouldn't be there, but I was lucky to get the logo off without damage to the tire.): Chassis: Engine:

Looking great so far, Mark! Just in case you find them helpful, below is a link to detail photos of the restored Tyrrell 004 chassis, which was the chassis used by the Lucky Strike team in 1973 and 1974. Ken Tyrrell was quoted as saying that the 002/003/004 chassis were as near to identical as they could make them, so the Ebbro kit is a great basis for the Lucky Strike car. www.britishracecar.com/JohnDimmer-Tyrrell-004.htmGood luck with your build. Looks good! For a finicky kit, it certainly is going together quickly! --Frank

Nearly two years ago I bashed this one from the toy-like Entex/Polistil kit...I used some decals I found at an NNL. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your WIP. Patrick

I've got one of the Entex kits too Patrick. It's stalled for want of a decent set of tires.

This kit may end up being the first auto kit on the "Shelf of Doom". I joined the engine/chassis and somehow I managed to get the rear suspension on crooked. Not sure how I managed that as assembly is straight forward.
Not sure how I'm gonna separate the transaxle from the engine without destroying it.

I built this kit as Sir Jackie's ride, and I'll completely agree it is a bit finicky. I had to continually check for level during my build, and test fit every suspension piece before gluing into place. I'm happy with the result, but it was a trying kit to build.

Well, I managed to fix the rear suspension. Had to take most of the engine apart, but it didn't turn out too bad. The build will continue next weekend.
I suspect it will be a long time before I build another Ebbro kit.

Looks kind of like how they might take the car out to the parking lot to shake it down after assembling the first chassis of the year. Looking forward to seeing this one get the rest of the bodywork and the rear wing.
