Hello, everybody!
I was made aware of the Open Wheel racing modeling forum by Chris wright (Beardog) . I've been working on a range of driver figures, which led me to order an Ebbro 1:20 Lotus 49 kit. I've always loved F1 from this era and have a growing fondness for the earlier stuff.
I actually got the kit in order to create a seated Jim Clark figure in this scale, but that's only part of why I'm here. First off, I'm not used to 1:20, the last model kit I built was 1/72. You can fake a lot more at smaller scales
I'm seriously considering breaking out the bleach and stripping the chrome from much of the kit, but I want to see how you more experienced guys approach the models. Hope to hear from some of you, thanks!

Welcome! Anyone that uses a Jimmy Clark Avatar is a friend of mine! There was a real beauty in the simplicity (compared to today's) of F1 cars from the early years. Loved them as well. Again: Welcome to the forum. Good to have you here... --Frank

Great to have you here, and hope we get to see your work here, too. Your figure work looks really convincing, I didn't have to be told it was Jimmy. Great to have another Texan around!

Should I immerse the parts, or spray them? I just drop em in a small glass jar, making sure they are covered by the 409 and wait a few minutes.... they should be de-chromed..most have a clear coat under the chrome that you can leave or just lightly sand..
