I talked to Bill yesterday and he informed me that he to has been banned, not only from posting but from viewing content on this site. Bill was not even involved in last weeks "entertainment" so this was obviously personal. Bill has supplied Indy models to builders longer than any one else and deserves to be here. Furthermore if two or more people get "into it" they should be treated the same whether it's erasing their posts or baning them both. Mike B. , out of respect to my friends who are no longer here , I no longer care to be here either, please remove me as a member and ban me from viewing any content as well .While your at it you can remove all of my other posts as I am sure you will remove this one as well. Gee, Lance, I guess that explains why I haven't seen any posts from Bill in a while. WTH is going on here? All of a sudden this fun and informative forum is headed downhill at a rapid pace! I've learned so much on here it's not funny but if this is going to end up like other forums, not to be named, then I too will go elsewhere. Moderators, please get this under control and sorted out post-haste!

I wasn't aware anyone was banned, what I read was a warning of same. Let's all kiss and make up. The collective genius of you two gentlemen, Bill and Lance, are the heart and soul of this board and the larger hobby.

As one who was involved in the "entertainment" as you call it, please don't go. Also, I meant to do this earlier, if I offended anyone in here last week, I offer my humblest apology. Not my intention to offend, just to enlighten. When things got personal, I stopped. Everyone has an opinion...but the part about being adults, one can agree to disagree...which some of us have in the past. Lance....think twice about leaving and don't do it.

Bill has logged in in the last 6 months and while he has not left many posts,he has left some. I am pretty sure you have to log in to do that. None the less there should be other methods to deal with situations other than banning people ( as I recall Bill has had several postings with at least one member here last October, I am pretty sure he logged in then as well.) Mike B, Lance, Bill, and all of Open Wheel Racing Modeling. Can we all take a minute, step back, take a deep breath and count to ten! Certainly some of the things that have happened on this site recently, have not been to the benefit of it. However, the majority of what goes on here is by far to the greater betterment of Open Wheel Racing Modeling. I have found this site to be most informative and helpful when it comes to Open Wheel Racing Modeling and for the greatest part a great bunch of people. I would feel that we are all friends. However, at times we will have disagreements and we will have them in the future, no matter what is done, but isn't that what friendship is about, to forgive, forget and move on.
I would ask Mike B to reconsider having Bill and Lance back on this site, since they are an integral part to our hobby, just as Mike Potaro is. I would also hope that Bill and Lance would want to come back to this site. It would definately be a great loss to us all, not to have them. I think it would also be a great loss to Bill and Lance since most of us are their customers. Please just think about what is best for all not just for ourself or one or two people. I know many of us come from different backgrounds and have different likes and dislikes. It's obvious when you look at the different ranges just in Open Wheel Racing alone.
Please, I know it will be hard for some of us, but let us all swallow some of our pride set things right and get back to what is important to us all. That's, Open Wheel Racing!

I agree with you Russ , we should all be able to disagree and as many of us have since the split ( CART-IRL) AND YES WE ARE PROBABLY ALL ALL GUILTY OF HAVING BEEN VERY OPINIONATED ABOUT IT IN THE YEARS SINCE ! Bill is not the only person who is no longer here , Ziggy is gone as well . Lance

Let's just have an amnesty period and let the moderator decide who is and is not behaving. It's obvious we all agree on this important matter.
Perhaps the moderator could consider allowing only posts about model building and thus avoid any replays of last week.

I guess I had something to do with what happened last week and for that I am very sorry. I don't want anyone banned from this site. Please Bill and Lance, as 2 of the backbones of our hobby, continue as members.

Yes Jordan, we need at least an 81 Penske PC-9b, an 82 Wildcat, an 83 and 84 March, to start off with. I'm sure there's a few of the roadster guys that have some wishes too along with our F-1 guys. How about it? On a serious note thanks again eveyone for pulling together, now let's get back to some serious modeling!

As a moderator for two very large internet sites, I know ht eproblems that can arise. Between the two I moderate over 4000 members, and that is a job that takes a LOT of time! I have *banned* one member in over 15 years. That ws due to fraud and lies being perpetrated on an internet community.
I believe that all *men* can come together and agree to disagree in a civil manner.
From a personal standpoint, everyone I have been in contact with here has been a gentleman, and I respect all of our members.
Do all of use really realize just how much KNOWLEDGE is contained within the confines of this forum? I feel I am not embarrassed to put my models beside anyone else's, of course they might not be as detailed but the execution is usually up to an very acceptable level. All I can attribute my Indy models to this very formidable forum and all the talented members here. My kudos to all!

Jordan Ziggy and others have had all their posts completely removed - they may not show as banned but perhaps their accounts were deleted too. Bill did say he logged in within the last six months and specifically told me which thread he posted in - his comments (complimenting someone for their build) - are not there. Stu Benford also seems to have been a victim of someone's wrath. I won't pretend to know what went down - I didn't view the thread(s) in question, but there apparently were consequences dished out. I too was questioning my membership here until I saw Jordan's post about the change in control and decided to wait it out. Hopefully everything will settle down into the civil atmosphere I've known this forum to be. |
