A friend of mine restored and owns the 1966 Meskowski Wynn's sprint car that JR dumped at Eldora. He previously owned the 1960 Kuzma Agajanian dirt champ car #98 most famously driven by Parnelli Jones. I want to build him a 1:18 replica out of a GMP kit but I'm running into a few issues. This car has one of a kind front suspension that isn't duplicated in the kit, the roll bar is tucked into the frame like the 1965 Urgo/O'Reilly/Meskowski JR #9(which is not accurate to the replica), and the scalloped paint is going to be an issue for me(do I attempt to tape it off or find someone to do decals?). There is an article detailing the car in the August 2015 Speedway Illustrated if anybody subscribes. Anyway, my questions are about the following:
Is it worth it to attempt to construct this suspension? It also requires completely reshaping the nose as well. Who should I contact about decals for this car? What type of modeling clay/putty should I use to reshape the holes in the hood from two long rectangles to four smaller ovals?
Does anybody have any experience with these kits or know anybody who has done a few? Thanks for the help.

I was at Eldora the day that JR flew out of the park.
