I just finished a couple nights ago Juan Montoya's 2000 Indianapolis 500 winner. After a hiatus away from the Speedway since the CART/IRL split Chip Ganassi brought cars for Jimmy Vasser and Colombian phenom Juan Montoya. Montoya won the 1999 CART title and was essentially "on loan" from F-1's Williams team to get some seasoning in top-flight racing. Montoya came loaded for bear in a Target sponsored G-Force. Montoya ran away from the field on race day. To this day I'm convinced the only reason second place Buddy Lazier got anywhere close is that Montoya essentially let him. The Colombian toyed with the competition and won handily, the first rookie to do so in 34 years. The next year Montoya went to F-1. After a successful career in an array of machines he returned to IndyCar last year finishing fifth in the 2014 500 and winning this year's edition. He is a mercurial man to say the least but he is also one of the great talents of our era. This is an ARM/Etzel kit and it went together brilliantly. The car is painted Tamiya Italian Red with carbon fiber decals and a mixture of kit and Indycals decals. The tires are spares from a Revell Reynard kit along with kit wheels that I polished.

Brilliant work, Jerry. A great kit and a great builder are a killer combo!

Looks great, Jerry. Just what we have come to expect from you. Not my favorite owner, or driver, but you can't deny the talent. One question, why did you use the Revell tires, instead of the kits?

Looks great! I'm converting a diecast for his other 500 mile winner from that year, and using the exact same paint choice.
