I picked this kit up off Ebay awhile back and thought I'd post some progress. This is the metal bodied kit and it has those beautiful wire wheels. Here's a shot of them as they come: They are really quite nice: Getting the tire over the wheel takes a bit of work but here's the finished tires:

I'm not really keen on these Revival kits, but it's the only way to get certain subjects. Some of their kits are quite nice but others, not so much. The W154 is one of the "not so much" kits. The chassis is molded rough and takes about 5 hands to put together. The engine block itself is 2 big, heavy pieces of white metal, fit is dodgey and the detail is a bit suspect:

The build as it stands now. The chassis is done and waiting on the tires: A major fit problem has bought the build to a halt while I try and figure out what to do:

Looks bent to me. Can it be un-bent? --Frank

Well, that sucks. Looks like some cutting, and filling work in your future. The old hot water cure won't work on this one.

It looks to me like the bottom tray is skewed as the line matching the bottom of the body is definitely not straight. I had a Ferrari with a similar problem. Lucky for me I was able to very carefully bend it back without making it worse or cracking the paint. Looking closer it appears the the body is not straight either. Perhaps some test fitting plastistruct sheet and putty the repaint may be in order. Looking good, Keep up the good work...

Wow, those rims and tires look great. Can't wait to see how this all come together. Best of luck on the body fix.

I found one of these kits in a hobby store a few years ago. I pulled it out tonight, (the kit), and checked the fit where you have the issue and mine is straight and matches up. Yours got bent somewhere along the line. Maybe you could use a vice to slowly coax it to being straight. Hope you get it right.
Did your wheels come silver like that? Mine are black.

I looked this car up on Wikipedia and read it's history. Interesting story.

Did your wheels come silver like that? Mine are black. Yea, they came like that. My boxing is the Indy version and it should have black rims. Since painting the rims would be a chore with the backing plates already attached, I'm going to do the 1939 #4 version Grand Prix version.
