Here's my version, not quite up to 1/18 scale standards, and don't even ask about a driver figure! As you might imagine, the hardest part of the build was keeping the body free of dust. I painted it gloss black first, applied the decals, then shot the whole thing with clear flat. I swear, dust must be magnetically attracted to flat paint.

It looks good, don't worry about someone else's standard because they might not be able to do the same job in 1/64. I noticed that you leave the wheels free wheeling, do you always do that?

Yes I do. I'd never even considered fixing them in place. The way they are constructed, I'd have to glue the wheels to the axles, then glue the axles to the chassis. It's a nightmare gluing the rear bumpers on, trying to get the correct gap between the bumpers and tires, while keeping them perpendicular to the ground, while also trying to get the correct gap between the tops of the bumpers and the rear wing, while keeping them parallel to each other, without smearing two-part epoxy all over the place. By then I've had enough gluing for a while.

I love it! doing a flat black scheme is always extra special just because of the extra clear coating step for the decals

I love it!!! I could never do one in such a small scale. I have to use a magnifier in 1/18th already! LOL
Super sweet build!

I totally agree with you. There are such good builders on this forum that sometimes, I feel I'm not in their league!

So correct me if I am wrong. If you would jack the car up the tires can come off? If that is true someone ought to work on 3D printing on some pit crew tire guys and air jack, fuel man and do a 1/64 pit crew scene. With your work they would look so cool. Very nice job on this build. I do not see how you do such small cars.

Currently, the wheels do not come off, but it would be very easy to change that. My problem with pit crew scenes is all the other stuff you have to scratch build to make it look right. You can't just have them changing the tires in some random parking lot - you've got to build the pit wall, then the stand the crew chief and engineers sit on, then all the chairs and monitors, fuel rig, etc. I've had this issue twice in 1/43, once doing a Le Mans pit scene, and once doing a Damon Hill/Jordan F1 pit scene. I had no problem building the cars, or even modifying and detailing all the figures, but I always seem to run out of inspiration on the other stuff. To date, I still haven't finished either one.
