Ok fellow modelers. We haven’t had one of these conversations in a while. Let’s talk color!  When I first saw Michael’s photos on his Facebook page in early May I commented about the intensity of this red. It really seems different to me than the other red Indy cars out there at the moment, but I’ve only seen it in photographs and on TV. I’d be especially interested in hearing the thoughts of those of you who have seen it in person. Stu, have you decided on what paint you’re going to use? Michael, do you have a recommendation? Oh GOSH Paul! you're starting a COLOR DEBATE!  I'm going to turn on my DVR and watch some of this years races and wait to see Scott Dixion Target TS-8 red running side by side with Graham Force Steak n Shake red. |

My memory is that the Steak-n-Shake car was a bit darker than Target red. Going through my photos... the reds look almost identical... but that can be from variances from one photo to the other. Here is the best apples-to-apples comparison I have - these were shot exactly three seconds apart. I did a test - TS8 over white and grey primer. On the first coat the grey primer was significantly darker, but as you apply more coats, the grey primer version lightens up and the white primer version darkens to the point where the grey primer version is slightly darker than the white primer version. If I was building the Steak-n-Shake car, I'd go TS8 over grey.  |

Steve sent me a piece of the red wrap on Graham's car and it is a tad on the darker side. I did some testing over the weekend and Michael is spot on. TS8 over grey tamiya primer is the ticket.
Also - So grateful for so many of you guys. Michael with the decals for both cars, Calvin for the future body pieces and Chris for the great 3D items. What was once an almost impossible task is now very doable!

Great job on nailing down the color guys. Michael, the decals look awesome! My three year old loves Steak 'n Shake so it has been fun rooting for Graham this year. Nice to see him and the Rahal team doing so well.
