I don't think anyone has got one yet as I think it's barely been realised in last couple days? They should be shipped over to the states here soon?
I imagine this hong kong seller just got these......
If the quality is anything like my Aoshima Lamborgini I got a few days ago it should be very impressive.

I've had this kit on order from HLJ for quite some time and I'm really excited to see it finally released. BeeMax has been doing a good job at updating us on Facebook for the last 6 months or so. Also, Aoshima will be releasing an accessory package with photo etch and CF decals that will be a must for this car. There are also aftermarket decals available at HLJ for those modelers who want to build the car as raced at other events in 1984.

I found this on eBay also but wasn't sure how long it had been on the market since I only visit eBay on rare occasions. I know that Fujimi had started a MP4/2 project a few years ago but had scrapped it . Good to see someone else has completed the task. From the limited on line pics, the kit looks good. Rusty

Just got an email from HLJ that my decals are ready to ship. Now I just need the model! I do have to go back through my research and decide which of Lauda's race winners I want to replicate. Paul Erlendson

Paul Erlendson I totally expect a complete highly detailed WIP from you on this.....if I see you doing a WIP it will get me motivated to work on that 34.

So, to be clear, If Paul does a WIP on this, or any other kit, Calvin will finish, and market the Lotus 34. The pressure is on, Paul. Lots of us want the Lotus.

It will prove to me how badly you want it. The matter of the fact is, I like the Lotus 34 but not completely passionate about it like a lot of people are....I respect their passion and would like to make it happen but I need a heck of a lot of motivation to get it done as it is one of the more tricky ones to engineer into a kit. Sometimes I wonder if I make a bigger deal out of it than it really is? Oh come on! Yeah! I do! There I've come clean - no pressure on me anymore! Until Paul starts a WIP!!!!!!!

Ok Calvin, please clarify. The moment that I start a work in progress (on the car that I'm working on right now, not the MP4/2 that I don't have yet), you will start a work in progress on the Lotus 34 kit (Jim Clark 1964 pole winner? If that is the case, I except your challenge not just for myself, but all Lotus 34 fans here.

I need to see a fully committed WIP that you plug away with until I start.

I need to see a fully committed WIP that you plug away with until I start. That's fine. I'm not looking for a race or anything like that. I'm a very slow builder. As Stu can attest to! lol I'm looking for as much or more motivation than you. My goal is to finish this model by next March. I figure out a couple more challenges to my build and then hope to get into the flow of things. Paul Erlendson

OH YES. Kinda looks like both Calvin, and Paul have painted themselves into a corner. I'm glad that I was able to help.
The first shot has to come from Paul.

GOT ONE!!!!. I ordered it only a week ago off Ebay (from Hong Kong guy) and it was sitting at the front door this morning. From the looks of it it is a nice kit. Instructions are mostly in Japanese and they include the position and part numbers for the aftermarket PE and carbon fiber decal sets. Nicely detailed Porsche turbo. Quality looks like Tamiya/Fujimi. Decals for either Prost or Lauda British GP markings. Separate decal placement sheet makes me think there might be other versions of this coming at some later date.
I just ordered another from the same guy. I will use it to make a MP4/2C (unless they come out with that kit as well.

Visually, the MP4/2 really didn't change much in 1984. Markings were either smoking or none smoking as I recall. The 2C will require a lot of work to create. Years ago I started to back date the Protar 1/12th scale 2C to a 2B.

Paul Erlendson To amend what I said yesterday, after looking through my Hiro book that shows the car at most races, I was reminded that the side turbo intakes increased in size in the later part of the season. Also, there were at least two different styles of non-tobacco markings. Wing wise, I'm sure there were subtle changes from race to race, but it is not something that stands out. PJE

Rusty, if you have a smartphone or a tablet, the Google Translate app could help you with the instructions in Japanese. You take a picture and highlight the text to translate. It is pretty great software!

Just got an email from M&S Hobbies that they will be getting their MP4/2's in on the first, so you should be able to find these stateside soon.

The kit is now available at HLJ. The accessory package is already back ordered. The instructions are up at Hobby Search for those of you who are interested. www.1999.co.jp/eng/10320844Paul Erlendson
