Hi all! My name is Pierre, i am from germany and modellboard.net is usually my "home board"... I found this great place while i was looking for informations about a conversion of a Tamiya FW11 to a FW10 and saw per accident that a high airbox for the M23 is available here, and had to register to say thank you to chaparral2k! I am building plastic models for many years now, F1 kits for a decade and i use 1/20 plastic kits of all makes for all my projects. I have a to-do list that is longer than a life, but i'm not getting tired to look for more projects to realize. I've startet many conversions of Tamiya kits but don't have much time for modelling in the moment to finish them, so please allow me to show some teasers of my work...
Front wing sideplates for my Benetton B192 -> B193B project: Test fitting the engine of my BT50 -> BT49D project: First steps on my BT50 -> BT51 conversion: First primer on my Lotus107B -> Lotus 107C project: Is it possible to convert a Benneton B188 -> B186? and my Williams FW13B -> FW13 built is making good progress too:
And just a quick view of two of my finished models, Tamiya Ferrari 643 Prost first, and the Ligier JS41 based on the Academy B195 kit second: Happy modelling!

Pierre: Welcome aboard! Your builds are super clean and beautiful...Always good to get more "global" perspective...my question; how do most Germans view their national drivers? Schumi? Vettel? Rosberg? What are your personal feelings? Don't worry about kickback: we All have our favorites...is there any support for Indycar in Germany? ...what are your personal memories of races attended? Last and certainly not least: Mercedes Benz or Auto Union? Again, WELCOME! Tim

Pierre: Welcome aboard! Your builds are super clean and beautiful...Always good to get more "global" perspective...my question; how do most Germans view their national drivers? Schumi? Vettel? Rosberg? What are your personal feelings? Again, WELCOME! Tim I've been watching F1 for almost 30 years now, but i can only speak for myself. Schumi - forever the greatest! Before he starts on 1991, F1 in germany was non-existent. More or less nothing on TV, you had to watch swiss TV or Eurosport (english) to see some races. RTL starts in 1992 or 1993 (don't remember exactly, had pay-tv allready) and with Schumis first victory in Spa, germany get's addicted to F1. Michael was our star, we can't tell how much he did for F1 in germany. All the german drivers of the last years were kids in this era, and thanks to Michael they all had all chances to get promoted. With his first race for Ferrari a new era began, we all laught and cried with him and his first (and every further) titel for Ferrari was epic. Monza 2006 was one of the sadest days ever. We all suspected that this was his last victory there, and watching the crowd and hear the german and italian anthems was heart breaking. His return to F1 in 2010 divided the nation. Some said he is to old and to long without races, all others (and the operators of the race tracks) loved the return of the champion. Sad but true, Daimler was'nt able to built a decent car, so his second career ended without success. Since then, visiters on track and tv gets fewer and fewer. In 2015 we don't have a race in germany, there are rumors that RTL will no longer broadcast the races - Schumimania is finnaly over. For me he will always be the greatest F1 driver of all times, i watched every practice, every race with him. He is forever the champion! Vettel - the limo boy. Good driver, but he will never get the same status as Schumi here in germany, no matter how many world champion titles he gets. Don't know exactly why, he is fast, drives for Ferrari now, but he will always be the champion AFTER Schumacher, he is just the prince after the king. Roßberg - always number two. Compared to his teammates he is not fast enough, so he will be number two forever. He seemingly think he can get world champion with just a single victory - as his father did, but that's not enough. He is the good guy, famous for his truth speaking interviews and very open hearted. But he lacks killer instinct and selfishness. World champion? Never. I have my fingers crossed for Hülkenberg (2015 LeMans winner!!!) in these days. It's really fantastic what he can do with that car, and i hope he get's a chance in a top team in the future. I would bet my left egg he get's Räikkönens cockpit in 2016. Ferrari needs a second top driver and there are rumors of a Ferrari comeback to LeMans... Let's hope the best. As said before, thats just my oppinion.

Welcome, I don't post often but visit every day to read the new builds. Love that.
Your analyse of the current German F1 drivers is exactly my point of view about them. Schumacher was my favorite driver too. As I am from Holland I was Verstappen fan also, he didn't have the best material and isn't as skilled as his son. That's my hope for the future and it's looking very very good.

Your opinion about F1 German racing is very interesting for us USA people as we have no idea what goes on over there.

Pierre, I don't know how I missed your welcoming post! You are to 1/20 as I am to 1/24! I'm so happy to welcome you to this great group. People will tell you I'm the resident Ferraristi here, But besides Ferraris I build Brabhams, Coopers and BRMs...mostly the 1.5 liter years. Great work you're doing especially the BT50!

Hi Patrick! I would love to build the Brabs and BRM's to, but i am a little bit "limited" with my modeling budget, so MFH and other MM kits of this cars are way to expensive to me. Thanks to Ebbro i can now have a Lotus49 kit, and i really hope to have an Ebbro RA300 or Brabham BT24... Regarding the BT50, there is on allready finished in my showcase
