Hi all, I thought I might try a semi-work-in-progress of the 1991 Indy 500 winner driven by four time winner Rick Mears. It was to be his last win at the 500. The following year, 1992, this winning car was destroyed my Mears in a very bad crash. Emerson Fitipaldi drove a very similar car, but his car differed from that of Mears' having different mirrors and no camera. I couldn't find a Jorgensen or any other kit, so I had to try a conversion of my own. Here are a couple of photos of when I started. Thanks, Wrencher.[img src=" i473.photobucket.com/albums/rr95/kizzie11/DSC02093.jpg" src="http:// [img src=" i473.photobucket.com/albums/rr95/kizzie11/DSC02094.jpg" src="http:// " alt=" "] " alt=" "]

I used an AMT Newman Haas Lola T-8800 as a base with a March 86C nose grafted on just ahead of the radiator tubs. I filled the original radiator exhaust openings on the tops of the tubs and created new ones in new locations. I extended the engine cover and built up the tops of the radiator tubs right over the radiator openings and re-shaped them. I also filled the popoff valve opening and relocated it more foreward. I reshaped the engine cover with Miliput and squared off the foreward windshield opening. I made a new windscreen and tinted it from the inside with Tamiya smoke. Added safety belts and the rollover bar is from a March 86C from the spares box. I added the camera and rear view mirrors from the spares box. The decals are from Indycals and wheel covers from our friend from Brazil. Thank you Schnauser. I hope you like the following photos. Wrencher.

:)Beautiful rendition of the car! The "dragon teeth" were an aero thing, designed to control and direct airflow. It's a model you can be proud of!!!
