Please give me some feedback (good and bad)) on my first try on the new Honda. I mainly need to know if I have the right shapes and sizes etc. 1 Added nose fin 2 corrected front wing 3 scratch built mirrors. They are not perfect but not too bad in this scale. 4 corrected fuel intake. Instead of using decals, I tried to add some depth. 5 added lettering to inside of tires. 6 added piece on top of engine cover. 7 scratch built rear wings and back bumpers. (Are these too big?) 8 I didn't do the small wings yet. 9 Added exhaust to engine covers. I these correct or are they a little too long.

On the last picture, the rear bumpers are very rough and no where close to being a finished product.

You can use the Barber's spotter's guide as a template. d1b8ufspcmikd1.cloudfront.net/~/media/Files/2015/IndyCarSeries/05-ALA/indycar-spotterguide.pdf?vs=1&d=20150420T173801I would recommend some experimenting to get it to print in 1/64 so you can use it as a cross section for the rear bumpers and to get the engine cover extension dimensions. The Indy 500 spotter's guide will be out in about two weeks which will help you even more. Here are some thoughts about the shape that I hope you find constructive: - the top of the end plates are flush with the top of the front wing, you will need to cut the factory end plates - the front end plates might be a hair longer, too, which you can more easily tell after cutting the piece down - use the thinnest sheet plastic you have for the nose fin - .005" if you have it - the 1:1 mirrors are very short vertically - need to cut holes in the chassis floor inside of the shark fins - need to add putty to build up sidepods - I believe the exhaust pipes barely stick out of the bodywork - add extension to rear of airbox - shorten rear bumpers - lower portion of rear bumpers is angled up on Hondas - rear wing supports go down vertically HTH Jordan

Good info Jordan!
IMO some of the details should just be left alone or become decals in 1/64. The exhaust is just almost impossible to make into something and as far as I would take that would be decals.
as for Michael P.'s favorite fin on the nose - it would take the thinnest piece of material you could get to stick on there before it would be to scale.

Thanks Calvin. I was just playing around with this project before some better options come along.(Hint Hint)

Personally I wouldn't even bother with the nose fin at 1/64 - you're talking about something 0.2mm high and virtually 0 width. IMO you'll have a much nicer build without it.

I think it's pretty dope that you gave it a shot. And in that scale too. So cool. Keep plugging away and you will find a way to get it done.

Terry, you have already established that you are totally fearless when it comes to complicated projects, but man, this would require a truly enormous amount of work. That being said, I have no intention of trying to discourage you, so here are my 2 cents:
Remove the existing front wing endplates completely, and scratch them out of plastic. That way, you can make them longer, and get the side contour right. It would probably take less time than trying to blend in additions to the stock parts.
Make the rear bumpers out of plastic sheet as well, maybe 1/16" thick. The real ones are flat on the top, and flat on the sides, with the only curve being where the top and sides meet. Thick plastic would allow you to sand in that curve once you've glued the pieces together. After you've got them shaped right, you could take them apart and use the pieces to make templates for future projects.
The sidepods in front of the rear wheels are much squarer than before, and the rise begins further towards the front of the car. I would use putty to accomplish this, as well as for reshaping the engine cover. You can get the shapes pretty close with just your fingers, and fine tune with sandpaper once the putty dries.
As for the winglets on the front wings and rear bumpers, I'm clueless as to how to recreate them easily. The trick I mentioned to you about using clear plastic packaging that Sharpies or ball point pens come in to make pre-curved windscreens might work, but I fear that there are just too many compound curves in the winglets to ever find the correct source material.
I offer these ideas in addition to the others posted above. You deserve major credit for even attempting this project, and I wish you the very best of luck!

After looking at the new pics of the speedway rear bumpers, your aluminum might work better than plastic - they appear to be much more curved than the roadcourse versions.

I have put new front wings on, changed the body and engine cover, plus changing the side pods. Let me know if this is correct?

Final update, I think. I extended the side pods on the front. Connected thhe rear bumpers and added rear wing (which is not attached permanently yet. Just checking for position. Added wing support (which is not 100 percent accurate. I may change that if I come up with a better idea. I did not add the little winglets on top of the rear bumpers. They practiced without them and that fine by me. Right now I'm working on all 5 of the Andretti cars and this one will be Ryan Hunter-Rhey's. Please comment on the good and bad if possible.

Here's another update. Getting closer to final touches. Redoing the rear bumpers again (third time) as I didn't like how they looked! In the second picture you will see 4 more cars in various stages. I'm going to do all 5 of the Andretti cars.
