It certainly qualifies as an open wheel racer! Love it! Tell us more about the kit-kit maker.

HI Patrick, Ha! Yes it certainly is an open wheel racer. It is made by a company called Genesis2scale. There is a website: www.genesis2scale.com/forsale.htmI bought the 1/25 resin kit approx. 5 years ago on an eBay listing. It is a complete kit. Here is a link to the website’s photo of the kit parts. www.genesis2scale.com/__museum/_ind/_1800duryea/_1895duryea/1895duryeaparts.htmNo scratchbuilding necessary, but I did replace the kit wheel hubs with ends from straight pins, Moderate clean up of the resin pieces is necessary in preparation. Most of the cleaning involves the wheel spokes. BTW tires are separate pieces. Fit is generally good. As you might imagine, there are no locator pins, so test fit! Details are good, scribing is right. There are pinholes in the folded canvas top. The rest of the kit is clean. The kit arrives without instructions. The instructions are downloaded from the website. There are approximately 30 pages of instructions with many photos. I have seen three photos of the auto and corresponded with both the master creator (don’t know his name) and a Librarian with the National Automotive History Collection of the Detroit Public Library. All evidence points to the auto being black on black on black. Not a pinstripe to be found! The task was to vary the blacks to create visual interest. The actual photos are a necessary help in this. I was happy to find the kit of the first known US race winner. It is at home in the case with the Indianapolis cars. I hope this has been of help. Mike
