I hope I can ask this in a way that makes sense, here goes. I'd like to make some modifications to my PC 17 to make a reasonable version of the 89 winner. I want add the little triangular openings on the side pods next to the cockpit. How do I do this with the way the cockpit and engine cover fit together? Do I have to glue them together and the make the openings? Help!!

I understand the question, and I assume that you are not building your PC-18 as a curbside, so you want to be able to remove the engine cover. For my PC-18 I cut into the top of the engine cover, removing about 1/8 inch along the edge where the cowl meets the monocoque. I then added a strip of styrene angled upward along the new edge. I then added putty to make a "smooth" transition where these parts meet. Since my build is a curbside, I didn't have to worry about the interior plumbing (ie What the heck do these air scoops actually feed?). I have a cut away drawing of the PC-18, but even with this reference it isn't clear where the air is being channeled.
