Hi Gary,
I need your help in getting some decals for you that you had made when you were building diecasts. Please get in touch with me so we can discuss what I need. Hope to hear from you soon.
If anyone outthere knows how to get ahold of him, please let me know.
Please contact me at rrrute@rcn.com or 484-903-6985.
Thank you Robby

Not this thread again. I don't know Gary at all, but I am still friends with him on FB I guess (I just looked) and it looks like he hasn't even posted since 2013. I build 1/43 and I had him chrome some 1/43 Revell 8 Slot Wheels for me to use on 80's Starter Kits. It was probably around 2003 or so I am guessing. He did an amazing job for me and it was great. He was active, attending races, building great looking diecast for drivers, teams and fans. I know NOTHING of the situation but the guy fell off the map and seems to have some major issues. His name is mud now. I have no hard feelings until I know the truth though, I mean the guy could have serious physical or mental health issues. Be fighting dependence or legal trouble. Family issues. Who knows what happened. Unless someone else got an email or call from him with an explanation, obviously he doesn't want to share. I think at this point everyone just cuts their losses, moves on and more than any of this, really hope the guy is just okay. Before all that happened - at one point he was a passionate guy about our sport and a very productive member of its fanbase.

I totally agree, I was taken also. I figured it was just timing. If I could have put my order in a year earlier I would have been fine. I think he had some family issues with his grandma or something. So to say the least I think he did have a problem, got way too deep in orders and got overwhelmed and saw no light at the end of the tunnel. Gary were ever you are God Speed and hopefully you can return.

Never met this gentleman. Tried to have him build a car for me and he wanted paid in advance. When I told him there would be no troubles getting paid once the project was finished, I never heard from him again. You be the judge, but either way, his ship has apparently sailed.

I'll leave my personal thoughts on Gary out of this, but in all fairness, when doing custom work like he does, there is no way I would take on a project without money up front, even if it was only a 50% deposit. Even the most trustworthy client can still have a 'change of plans' due to circumstances out of their control (illness, injury, job loss, etc) and then you've done all that work for nothing. Too big of a chance to take.

This one has stayed civil so I have not yet seen a reason to lock it. IIRC threads about Patto and Gary P were the reason ProBoards temporarily suspended the board several years back. As a result, this particular topic has a short "leash."
It would be nice to see Gary reappear and start to make good on his backlog. Additionally, my understanding is that Gary got Earl Ma's artwork after Earl passed. I would love to see that end up with someone willing to print them in the various scales we model open wheelers.

Gary is the reason I started doing this. I never got my Hornish car or $ back so I decided to make it myself. When we would communicate he seemed like a nice guy. Then overnight he dissappeared. Hope he is ok because even though he didn't live up to his end of the bargain I don't wish ill will on the guy.
Michael is right too. You can't do this and not request at least half payment up front. I've already been burned on this. Lesson learned.

My point was that I was concerned about his motives. A deposit is completely reasonable, full payment in advance? Not so much.

Agreed. It's a trust game for both parties. Both need to give and take.

Any collector I built for always wanted to pay in advance, I told them no. When I sent them photos of the completed car then they paid me. As I explained if anything happened to me they would not get a refund b/c my wife doesn't know anything about my commission work or how to get hold of the person or even repay them. I was never stiffed. I could always sell it on Ebay anyway. 12 years ago, before I built customs Gary made me a car for $300. After I saw it, & it was nice I admit, I thought heck I can do this & that's the rest of the story. BTW when I was asked to do a car & I would send them the price I never got a reply, so I figured they didn't want it that bad lol.
