I have the Revival 1/20 Ferrari 156 and it just has a metal rear axle. I'd like to make scale axles for it.
Does anyone know where I can find 1/20 u-joints? I suppose I could just rob a set out of an indycar kit and they would be passable, but I'd rather not do that. A good set of plans would be a great help too.

Ok, so no help there.
In the short time I have been working on this kit and searching for references, I have discovered just how inaccurate the Revival kit is. In fact, I don't think you can build an accurate 156 with this kit. The biggest problem (apart from the axles) is that they cast it with a separate belly pan. From what I can tell, the fuel tanks formed the outside surface of the lower body. Revival has cast a lower pan that encompasses the fuel tanks and puts them inside the bodywork.

Mark, it will take some hacking up of the body parts if you do want a fully detailed model of the 156. First off, you'll want to separate the bottom of the nose from the belly so you can glue the top and bottom together to get rid of the seam. If you then want to separate the sides from the bottom you can then fill in the insides to make the fuel tanks. I'm not sure about the rear axles, but I'll try to look at some of my 1/20th scale F1 models to see if there are any that might work. Do you have the MFH instructions that are on the Hobby Search site? They might be a big help.

Good luck with a Revival kit. I think I would have it easier with a Hong Kong toy! I don't have a great opinion of them I think.

I would think that 1/25 scale U joints would be fine. The 156 joints were transmitting about 180 horsepower while the Indy car joints from the late 60s were transmitting almost 500 horsepower.

I have one of these kits. I agree, without MAJOR surgery, it can not be accurate. That said, I will build mine stock as is is signed by Phil Hill!
