First post so I hope I am putting this in the correct spot. My apologies if not.
Some great talent on this site. Incredible models and details. The Indy roadsters are still my favourtie race cars.
I have an old built Tamiya Tyrrell P34 Six Wheel F1 car in 1/12 scale. I would like to rebuild this model but one of the front tires looks like it had a high speed blowout, no idea what happened to it. I search the web and found rain tires for the 1/20 scale car but nothing for the 1/12. Did see some for the 1/10 RC version but I don't think they would work. Anyone know of a source or can suggest an alternative for these tires?
Also what is the best way to take apart a model that has been glued? Some of it has come apart with time but some not so much.
I think decal sheets are available for this car but again I have not found any.
Thanks in advance for any help/direction you can give me.

First off... welcome to the forum! I am not aware of any tires available for the P34 in 1/12. However, Indycals can help with the decals: www.indycals.net/decals/f1/76tyrrellp34.htmlI have heard of people putting built kits in the freezer overnight to make them easier to take apart. I have not tried it though.

Like Indydog says, dampened the model, put it in a freezer bag overnight, and let the expanding water do the initial prying apart. The freezer bag keeps the small parts together. I've used this method and it works well, but it's only the first step. --Frank

Well, I didn't see any reproduction tires at Icon Automotive Miniatures. Emailing Derek at Icon might let you know if he has a reproduction set on his radar. You might try to find an old kit or glue bomb for the tires. Some guys reproduce in resin the hard to source parts they are looking for, but not all of us have that comfort level with resin casting.

If Derek does have some, that is the way to go, especially if he has them in the rubber - his tires are NICE. If not I could possibly do some using 3d printing for you. Not as ideal or cost effective, but it will get the job done.
And yes, you definitely want my decals - I have a hard time hitting some shades of yellow, but the yellow on my P34 sheet is perfect for that car.

Thanks gentleman, I have sent an email off to Derek and will update the thread when I hear back from him.
I have bought decals from you in the past Indycals for a Mark Donohue conversion of a 1/18 Porsche 917/10. They were beautifully done.
Truly appreciated.

I received a nice reply from Derek at Icon Automotive Miniatures and currently he does not make the P34 tires in 1/12 scale, he does have them in 1/20. He may reproduce these 1/12 scale tires in the future.
So I think I will look for another kit and take the parts from this one and make an attempt at a Supermodified. I have no idea how the Cosworth would work against a Chevrolet 468 cubic in big block but for a model it really does not matter. I believe I can access plans for the frame so I may just take a stab at it. If I go ahead I will take pictures of the process.
Thanks again for the input and to Indycals for letting me know there is a option for quality decals for this kit.

One long shot you may want to try is to contact Tamiya USA. IDK how long this one has been out of the catalog, so it's iffy, but they may be able to help. I have received both decals and replacement parts that way. MJ

I think the P34 was re-issued within the last few years so getting tires from Tamiya might be a possibility.
