Did the 53 winner have lap belts? It's hard to find shots of the interior of this car. Thanks

John, I can't find a good picture of the cockpit of the car either although I have taken several at the IMS Museum. I do have a one of Jimmy Jackson's car from the year before showing a lap belt. The ones of have of the Nalon Novi, however, do not show any. I hope someone can clear this up. There is a reference in the book "Vukovich" section by Rex Dean that mentions "restraints." At that time, I take the statement to mean a lap belt. Jim Jim

Thanks Jim, I'll keep digging. In the meantime I hope someone can clear this up. If not, no big deal.

The 53 winner DID have seatbelts, they were made just like the WW2 seatbelts in the aircraft. They were mostly black in color but some were tan in color, I have some pictures of other cars including the #25 Kurtis 500A, a sister car to the 500 winner and it has Black seat belts.
