Got started on this today, this is my first full resin kit. This is very nicely moulded and looks like it should be a very nice intro. Not much in the way of progress today, just washing the mould release off the parts and removing pour blocks and flashing. progress will be pretty slow going, as I only get one day a week to do anything with it. Any advise or hints/criticisms would be most welcome. And does anyone have any pics of the interior? Cheers!

Does any one know where I can find some period appropriate PE belt hardware?

For that scale Detail Master has the best sets. They have both the level and cam action belts. I'm not sure which one they used. My guess would be the cam action.

Thanks for the tip, I had forgotten about detail master. I was thinking that they should be lever action myself. Based entirely on the fact that the one pic I have been able to find showing an m16's harness is a lever. It's amazing how few pics there are of the m15. You'd think with the one Donnington has in their collection there would be a bit more out there.

To me this looks like the attachment point is flat an short. That would be indicative of the cam type. The lever ends were angled out, rectangular, and fairly long to go over the end. Either way though, it would add a nice touch to the kit.

Thanks mate, you've got me convinced. Cam type it is. Should make that big seat less empty looking.

I too have this kit and have done a little bit of study as to what harness was used. Since the M-15 was largely based on the overall concept of what McLaren was doing with the M8B/D CanAm cars, I thought from the beginning that they would have used the same hardware as their team CanAm cars. I do have one photo of Chris Amon in the car and it does look like he is strapped in with the center lock blue Willians belts. Because of the way Lance designed the cockpit similarly to his Interscope Batmobile, I plan on using Michael’s harness decals once again. My only wish would be that Michael supplied the center lock on one of the lap belts instead of tangs on both. I have considered laying a photo etch center lock on top of the decals. Might look just fine. Paul Erlendson

I managed to get some paint on this week. But I'm not that happy with the finish, so the orange has all been wet sanded awaiting a final coat. Gonna get some painting done on the offy and cockpit for now.

The beginnings of the cockpit. And the Offy, I'm not going to waste much time with detailing as most of it will be hidden when done.

Got some work done on the rear suspension this afternoon. Chrome finish on the wheels, not alclad quality but not too shabby for a rattle can. Krylon chrome over Testors gloss black.

Gloss black as a base makes the particles in the chrome paint reflect better, making it look brighter. Turns out it works wit Krylon as well.

Looking good
Actually, IME the "new" rattle can Alclad II Lacquer works well.
