Has anyone built or know of a build for the #21 UNO Tim Richmond car in 1980?

No I've never seen one built. But it would be the most popular Penske pc-7 model if it was an option. IMO

We make it an option by dropping hints to Michael at Indycals... Michael: Hint. Hint. Hint. --Frank

Bump. I did mention this one to Michael a couple years ago. There aren't too many good photos of this car that I know of. Maybe if we post some here, we can get this started. I've been kind of saving my PC-7 kit for this.

The more I look at the stripe pattern, the more imposing this project gets...

Car had some wicked stripes on it. And I agree with the comment it would be the most popular of the 1980 PC-7s. I know Tim was for sure the talk of the town that May (which seems like so long ago) I was a senior in High School and he kind of came out of nowhere. The crash really knocked frenzy out of his pole run attempt. Q-95 radio got behind him as the station had just started to take off. They were giving away stickers "Q-95 UNO Starcruizer" was the name given the machine. Richmond of course was a HUGE hit with the ladies.
Fun times!

Richmond was a "shoe" and the Indy crowd loved him. I remember the cheering after the end of the race when Rutherford stopped in the "Yellow Submarine" to give him a ride back to the pits. That was special. Tom Cruise' movie "Days of Thunder" is supposedly inspired by Richmond coming into NASCAR. Jim

Excuse my ignorance here but the kit would have to be a resin version? I do not recall a plastic one is this correct?

Tim had it all, and in the end, it all killed him.

There is a Resin conversion that Lance did back a number of years ago for the AMT PC6 or on here somewhere on this forum you can download a template to make your own side pods out of styrene.

Man....That would be a very cool build to do. If Mike comes out with the decal sheet...I'd get at least two..that's for sure.
