Hey Mongo!!! Yes, it is a kit...sort of. It's the old AMT...and I do mean OLD AMT Lotus 29 that was in all the Hall of fame sets. I first got Bob Clidinst's wonderful drawings of this car. Took the old AMT Lotus Body and did a nose job on it to get the correct length. I then took the transmission off the AMY Lotus kit, grafted it onto an Ford Four Cam engine from a 68 Gurney/Olsonite Eagle kit, test fitted it onto the chassis and made some body revisions....and I had Fred Cady's excellent decals as well. It wasn't difficult. I mean, if I can do it, anyone can. Just get Clidinst's drawings.... The tires I got from Norm Vebber at Replica's and Miniatures of Maryland. Best to you Russ

Russ,
This Marshman, Lotus 34 is an OUTSTANDING model! I love it - you've really got me excited. I'm goint to try using your "kit" ideas to build Clark's pole winning 34. This is going to be a fun project!
Thaks so much for posting.

You are always there for a good answer. I appreciate that. ;D Would the same theory work for doing A.J.'s '65 car?? Thanks! Mongo

Thanks Russ - Actually I have the Clidinst drawings of the Lotus 29 (Motor Racing Replica News - July/Aug 1993) along with a wonderful article written by you) and a fair number of photos in the "Team Lotus - The Indy Years by Andrew Ferguson.
I've already started work on "the nose job" and on fitting the quad-cam engine into the tub - so far so good and tuns of fun! Thanks agian for the INSPIRATION!

Russ,
We think in a similar vein. I used the IMC kit body/monocoque and all wasn't too bad until I was finishing it off with the windscreen and it covered Cady's decals around the cockpit! What a bummer. It was at last year's NNL/West anyway. Yes. the MPC 4 cam is the best! Your version is the best, too!

That car fascinated me back in '64. I thought both the car itself and the paint scheme was beautiful. Marshman was going to be a huge star and this car was helping stamp him as a really fast driver. You have done a great job with your model !

Thanks Fred,
Tat was a labor of love, let me tell you. My friend, Bob Clidinst still has the slot car he made for Bobby Marshman and never got a chance to deliver to him. Rodger Ward said it best...."About ten stupid things had to happen in the 1964 500 for Foyt to win it....and we did ten stupid things and he won it."
Best to you!
Russ

I don't think Rodger ever got over that either. He talked to me about in 2000 and it still pained him.
