I was considering buying a couple of the old Minichamps cars from 1993 and noticed on some of the cars with darker colors the decals are starting to silver pretty bad. Has anyone tried using micro sol/set to fix this or is it better just to leave it alone and deal with it?

Hi Tyler, I have not tried Microsol on any yet - but I have been one-by-one replacing the decals with IndyCals as I have time. Michael makes the Duracell Lola of Boesel, NewmanHaas Texaco Havoline Lola's of Mario and Mansell, the 1992 Al Jr Galmer Valvoline (which has many of the same decals as the 1993 Lola) and those three are the main IndyCars I have noticed that may silver. Might be a better option in the long run as despite Minichamps still being a GREAT collectible (my favorite series over the years at least until Spark and Replicarz started recently) - a lot of the decals were applied a crooked and time is starting to catch up with them via silvering and cracking. Good luck, let us know how it goes!

I have noticed that when those old decals start to go, there is really no saving them. Those were the days before tampo (spl?) decals and just don't hold up over time. 11rowsof3 is right. Go to Michael's web site and order a replacement set. www.indycals.netStu

The car in question is a 1993 Al jr. The rear wing obviously is the biggest issues but I've also noticed the red/white/blue striping that runs down the side of the engine cowling to the nose is also cracking. I'd almost rather re-decal the whole car.
