Hi all, just thought that I would show my conversion of Al Unser's 1978 winner.

"]I thought that I would try to do a WIP on this one as I haven't posted any photos here for years.I used an AMT kit of a Penske PC-6 kit which is a model itself of the 1979 winner. To start with, make a couple of razor saw cuts along the lower sides of the bbody tub. Bend the sides inward and glue the curved sides back down to the tub floor.

Ya know, I used to do this photo posting, but I just don't get it. Someone will probably have to draw me pictures or something. I had quite a bit of stuff that I wanted to share, but I just can't seem to get there. H.W.

It shows how to use Photobucket and this forum to post photos. FYI... it includes pictures! www.dogshouse.us/hints/hiottphotos/photos.html

The photo above shows the small pieces of styrene sheet that need to be added to the tub top plate . This area will go above the radiators and the altered areas of the lower tub. After gluing them in place, they are puttied over and sanded smooth.

Just copy this and paste it on this forum and it should look like this when you paste it. there is others ways to paste the photobucket IMG code on here without all that clutter of code.....but just do this.

Like so...
The code looks like this: (minus the [ at the beginning and ] at the end)
img src="http://i473.photobucket.com/albums/rr95/kizzie11/DSC01613.jpg" style="max-width:50%;"
Note where the "src=http://" is. The "max width" was just my way of making the photo smaller.

I am enjoying the progress on this one, most go the resin route for the '78 Lola so a scratchbuild using the PC-6 kit is very intering. As far as the images still not working, this is what you had: http://i473.photobucket.com/albums/rr95/kizzie11/DSC01613.jpg" src="http://[a href="http://s473.photobucket.com/user/kizzie11/media/DSC01613.jpg.html"][/a]" alt=" "] To fix, I would just cut out the following link ending in jpg and delete the rest. i473.photobucket.com/albums/rr95/kizzie11/DSC01613.jpgThen highlight the link and click the Insert Image button here on the posting screen. Click okay and you should get this Jordan

This post post is not going as planned and now I have lost some of the photos that I had to post. So, to continue, I'll try to explain what I did. Although I know a picture is worth a thousand words, I believe a project started should be seen through, so here goes. In the above photo that shows a top view of the upper tub, the whole engine hood erea was filled with "Miliput" putty and then after curing, it was sanded to the contour of the 78 car's hood.On the lower tub, pieces were added to mimic the upper tub in the area where the radiators fit. In the original kit, the radiators were made in two pieces, In this build though, only the thin halves of the radiators were used, and mounted in place at an angle. On the 79 car, they were mounted even with the sides of the body, but here they are mounted at an angle, slanting inward toward the front. The curved areas of the lower tub were lengthened slightly to meet the radiators.

In the photo above, you can just tell that the radiators are slanted inward as opposed to the 1979 car where they were straight,

The windscreen was the next problem, and a new one was made by modifying thr kit one and vacuforming a new one. After trimming and fitting, it was tinted with Tamiya clear orange form the inside and attached to the car with Micro crystal Kleer.

Here are a couple of comparison pics of the two cars together. The rear wings were different, the wheels were also different and the mirrors. My computer is crashing.

I saw the car at the Science and Tech Museum in Chicago in 2007. Oddly, this was the only photo I took. Patrick
