  Ford Escort Mk. IIA few weeks ago we announced the re-edition of the utterly famous Ford Escort Mk. II kit by Esci, this time under the seal of Italeri. Well, we already have it on the shelves at SpotModel!!!!!!!   Farewell, championSad news came out yesterday: the 12 + 1 times motorcycling world champion, Ángel Nieto, finally passed away after not overcoming the injuries suffered in a traffic accident. In his laurel and glory days, the name of Ángel Nieto made all Spaniards realize that we could be champions beyond our borders. He was a pioneer in bringing the name of Spain to the top of the worldwide racing: with him, the dream of Spanish athletes touching the skies nowadays began. After thrilling many of us riding his bike, he got off but never left the arena. As a motorcycle world championship sportscaster, he taught to a few generations of us how to love this sport as he did. A true legend left us, and at SpotModel we didn't want to miss the chance of saying goodbye. Farewell, dear Ángel.   XJR-9 LMThis sexy English machine appeared in 1988 with its striking purple, yellow and white colors, participating in eleven races and winning six of them.  BOOOM!!!A few days ago we presented the BMW M6 GT3, and now it is the turn of its race track partner: the brand new Mercedes AMG GT3 that Tamiya has reproduced in 1/24 scale with exquisite precision. You will notice a small dizziness while opening the box, do not worry it's perfectly normal.  Safety firstWhen a race car goes off the track, sparks can fly around the driver, ending in complicated situations, fires, explosions, ... To minimize these unpleasant scenarios, the electric cut-off systems were invented, interrupting the electric flow to every device on the car, and the fire extinguishing firing systems, which activate a fire extinguisher that helps putting out any possible flame that may light.  On the way!!The wait has been long, but we have good news: the Opel Manta 400 by Belkits are finally on their way. Great!!!! The container with the models has departed from the Far East by ship a few days ago, and its arrival to Europe is estimated by the end of February, so we guess you could finaly have the model on top of your workbench by the beginning of March.  Toy Fair 2018We have just returned from the Nuremberg International Toy Fair, the biggest event in Europe for scale modeling manufacturers. In this fair they present all the new releases for this year and... how awesome are them all!!!Just a few words on a few of them: Tamiya has specially surprised us with the Ferrari SF70H in 1/20 scale that you can already preoder at SpotModel (and that we will receive by the end of February), the Ferrari LaFerrari with the body moulded in yellow plastic, the new laquer paints, a fantastic range of scribers, and also the reedition of the Caterham Super Seven with BDR engine in 1/12 scale; Belkits presented the 2017 season Ford Fiesta RS WRC; Revell showed the Ford GT 2017 along with all the product reissues from other years, as is the case of the 1/16 scale Porsche 356 cabrio or the VW T1 used by Porsche in the races of that time.  30 yearsIt's year 1988, the Formula 1 World Championship starts, and McLaren fits the carbon monocoque of its lightweight with a Honda 1500cc V6 engine with two turbos that generated 685 horsepower. This machine is considered by car experts as the best F1 in history. Awesome!!! 30 years have passed since the birth of this mechanical wonder, and Alain Prost said the very day he could test it: "This car is going to be fast as hell". The MP4/4 won 15 of the 16 races of 1988, with 10 doubles in 1st and 2nd position and 15 poles, leading 1,003 of the 1,031 laps of the whole championship.
